Well, we can't just let this one go, can we???? It's funny, every time I see those signs about "merge right" or "single lane ahead" I always think of my friends here! And I almost NEVER let anyone in front of me....♥♥♥
ANyway, I KNOW I heard this on the news this morning (although I haven't heard it again and just googled trying to find something about it and can't). The report was that someone had done a survey about people using turn signals, and some people said they just didn't bother with it, some just didn't think about it -- I don't really remember all the details....
But what I did remember was that there was a percentage of people who deliberately didn't use their signals because they wanted to add to the excitement of driving!!!!!
I think we definitely need to add more danger into the experience!!! Nothing like using a 3,000+ pound weapon irresponsibly to add some excitement to your day!!!! ♥♥♥
(I'm sure no one who uses this forum responded to that survey!)

Yep Macca, after posing as a FIRETRUCK, non-use of turn signals is another one on the list for me too! Of course, there is also the issue of the people that leave their turn signal ON. If I'm trying to make a turn, I never know if I can trust an oncoming vehicle with their turn signal on. But, all-in-all, I think turn signal use is a good thing

I'd be happy if folks would realize that when you're turning left, you're supposed to yield to oncoming traffic. At least, that was in MY copy of the NC Driver Handbook! Apparently, that part was omitted in plenty of other copies.

Thanks. I was glad to see the Road Rage topic. I apparently drive the invisible bright red truck that no one can see as they are turning out in front of me! I have a feeling I'll be venting my spleen here on occasion.

Okay, for those of you who missed the notification TODAY was apparently Turn Signal Amnesty Day in North Carolina. At first I thought it was just Northwest Guilford, but I quickly learned that it was in Kernersville, too. I can only presume that it was a state-wide thing. I made this astute observation after the 7th person jammed on their brakes to make a turn in front of me. Days like today make me glad that I never take up my father's offer to provide me with a handgun.

Well, Alicia C!
If you browse back thru this thread you'll see all kinds of things we have written about -- bicyclists that we'd like to spray with shaving cream, people who drive for miles disregarding the "merge into one lane" signs and then don't understand why we won't let them in, and smoking and drinking deer on the side of the road! There are several of us who have pet peeves that include folks who don't use their turn signals...
I heard the stats on that survey again this morning.... It was 7% of drivers who say they don't use signals b/c they want to add to the excitement of driving.

Okay, I am now officially afraid. Pity there's no discreet or legal way to nudge that 7% out of the gene pool.

Yep. It takes a constant iron will to refuse that offer.

<-doesnt respond to turn signals either. muu hahahah
Turn signals just let people know that you are about to get in front of them and so wehn they see your turn signal, they speed up to not let you in. Therefore, I jsut swerve right in.

Bama, that's the kinda thing you do - but you don't TELL anybody that you do it!

stop signs=yield signs
yield signs= "kick that mule" signs. That means "go" for you 'lubbers out there.
