On our way home late last night, hit a dog (big black lab - thought it was a deer at first!) that went streaking out in front of the car. Scared us to death but the dog was OK. Husband got out and talked to the owner and they checked the dog out. Dog will probably need a chiropractor or a good massage (or both) today though!
Cracker, I don't think this was a Show Dog but I say...everybody, keep your dogs in a van, in the house, fenced up or on a lease

This here is a true tale of a road rage hero.
This happened on a 4-lane road, two lanes in each direction. The boys were doin' some construction up ahead in the outside lane, but they had merge signs up well in advance tellin' ever'body to get over into the inside lane. Well, some people are above followin' rules of the road or even rules of common decency for that matter. Y'all know the type, don'tcha? Them people just kept on going past us in the outside lane till they got up to whar the construction was and then wanted us lesser mortals to make way and let 'em get back into the inside lane. And people were lettin' 'em cut back in! Which just slowed the inside lane down to slower than Pappy-walkin' speed. Finally the hero of this tale, the trucker in front of Pappy, decided he'd end such contrary foolishness. He pulls his big rig over halfway into the outside lane so nobody can get around in front of the good folk in the inside lane! Pappy 'bout choked doin' his ol' coot cackle over that one. We all closed ranks behind him and didn't let any of 'em back in line. It was a beautiful sight.

Pappy, I have seen the big-rigs do this before and it always make me quite happy Sort of makes up for that one 18-wheeler who side-swiped me off onto the shoulder of the road a couple of years ago. I was minding my own business over in the right lane, shem came roaring up by me in the left lane then suddenly decided to cut over into the right lane to make a right turn. Shem jumped from the cab yelling "you were in my blind spot!." Well who do you think put me there?

Pappy, I always hope when something like that happens it makes the people who are trying to force their way in think twice before trying it again. Probably just wishful thinking, but it sure makes you feel better to see it happen when it does! ♥♥♥

Love that ol' Pappy! That was a good'un!
Having recently moved to NC from SC... it astounds me that no one does the speed limit - or er... uh should I say BELOW the posted limit?!
I would like to say... it is not supposed to be a "suggestion" but an actual "limit". Every day I am passed on the road by folks like I am the one in the wrong. Last week on my way to take my daughter to school, there was this high school 'kid' that blew by us doing at least 100 mph!! What is the deal??

rules are made to be broken? I thought they were all just suggestions. hahah. it is instinct. you know the "give 110% thing". Some of us just choose to go 110% (or more) of the speed limit.

How does one become important enough to park in fire lanes? It's almost amusing that these people think that these are VIP parking spaces reseved only for them. Oh, the small disparities of life!

OH OH OH!!! THAT MAKES ME CRAZY TOO STARCATCHR!!!!! GOOD ONE!!
I have a story... Dumb, but it's a contribution. So my oldest little Crackah turned 15 this year, you know, the year where the kid becomes older and wiser than the parent. Shem has obtained the dreaded "LEARNER'S PERMIT."
We were coming home the other night after traveling the world over, and were sitting at the spot where Hamburg Mill Rd. intersects with 220, trying to make a LEFT turn onto 220. 6:00 P.M. Now, I know you don't hit that spot at that time if at all possible, because it is almost impossible to get across the road due to heavy, non-stop traffic, but I was no longer in complete possession of my mind at this point so I had trusted shem to get us home.
The first five minutes we sat there were uneventful, however as the line behind us grew to about 25 cars, I realized that perhaps I might need to help shem watch for the primo opportunity to risk life and limb to make that left turn.
I started watching for "the moment" to cross and quickly realized that you lose all perspective when you are sitting in the seat next to the driver. In other words, the cars move much faster toward you, and you can't judge whether or not you have the horsepower to get across and out of the way if your foot is not the foot operating the car....
I'm afraid I blew the one opportunity shem actually had to get across because that car coming at us looked like it was traveling at mach 42 or something.... It was actually going about 12 mph. The first 14 cars started honking at us...We're 10 minutes into the wait now....
The kid starts to panic and starts screaming at me that we missed "the moment". I am trying to sit there and PRETEND like the honking doesn't bother me, wishing I had one of those driver's ed signs to slap on top of the car, and telling shem that it is better to be safe than sorry....
Anyway, 15 minutes later, we threw caution to the wind and jetted across to make our left.
I'm here, so we must have made it....

So it's been a while since I posted here, or since anyone has...
My road rage today was more frustration than rage....Was driving in a nearby town, a university town.... got all turned around, what with the one-way streets and "was I going north" or "was I going south".... got so confused I couldn't even tell when I was going right or straight thru an intersection!!!! ... Kept having to circle the block and try to figure out how to get back to where we were so we could go in the RIGHT direction that time! ... OK, it didn't help that the spoose was the navigator. I do better when handling both roles, but sometimes that's just not possible.... It all happens so fast!!! ♥♥♥

Oh, I had forgotten about this posting! I meant to comment before.... I guess tonight I get to try to catch up some....
I was talking with a friend one day and she said something about parking in the fire lane at Food Dog 'cause she was just running in for a minute. I guess I was looking at her really strange-like, because she said, "Oh, you know you've done it too!" And I said, "No, actually, I haven't.... never even thought about doing it...."
I think it was Kris who said it -- I don't drive a fire truck!!!
