OK! So on I-40 this morning, I passed this guy who was in the middle lane. I did not tailgate him or swerve but I did not signal. On seeing me move into the left lane and continue my speed, the guy speeds up like he is going to pass me. Well I successfully/covertly prevented this as he was coming up on another car in his lane. I then came up behind 2 trucks in my lane and moved over to the right lane. At this point, the guy saw me do this and sped up and switched lanes in order to tailgate me. He was either talking on the phone using his hands or waving me over. (He may have been describing me swerving madly about to someone on the phone) Either way, he continues to tailgate me for a minute or so and then decided not to continue at this speed and drops back down to about exactly the speed limit.
Well, why in the world do you see it as your point in life to tell me I didnt use my signal when I was coming from behind you. Also and then to tailgate me and gesture something? Hmm. maybe he thought I was hot. Well gues what. I am a male.... and.. umm.. idonthtinkso!
P.S. Driving in the left lane at 5 under the speed limit is not a favor to humanity. You are not protecting us or keeping the roads safe by running a rolling road block at 5 under. Read the signs. move over.
Whew! Thank you NWO forum.

SCHOOL ZONE people!!!
I know we don't have pretty little flashing lights out here, but school zone speeds are 35mph at the high/middle school between 8:00am till 9:00am and 3:15-4:15pm
elementary 7:20am 8:15 and 2:15-3:15
So please slow down with the overcrowding at all the NW area school it is very dangerous.
This is the only place I show my road rage toward others.

So, what about these people who don't use their turn signals? (No offense, Bama. I know you said you were coming up from behind him....) I mean, if you're not paying attention, you could rear-end these yahoos, or you could pull right out in front ot them and they'd hit you! Or you sit and wait to pull out into traffic and then they turn at the last minute -- and you could've pulled out 5 minutes ago if you'd known they were going to turn!!! (Thanks... I feel better! I have been known to nod my head profusely, as in "What the H... are you thinking?" or throw my hands in the air as in, "Thanks a lot!" Sometimes I even point at them, but I figure they're clueless as to what I mean, and I don't want to provoke retaliation in case they think I'm challenging them...)
Oh, yeah...And what about those people who wait until the LAST SECOND to merge into the ONE LANE that you've gotten notice of for the past 3 MILES? I have been known to do everything in my power to keep them from getting in front of me, just because I know they can read the signs just as well as I can... Somehow they must think it means everyone EXCEPT THEM should merge, and then those poor saps who followed the rules are supposed to give them a break! One time, this woman tried to merge in front of me on Wendover Ave (I'm aging myself --- this was long before the widening, when there were only 2 LANES across I-40!). I, true to my standards, didn't allow it, and she had to get in behind me. We proceeded down Wendover until we reached Penney Road, where I was making a left turn. As she drove by she blew her horn and gave me a one-finger salute. I gave her my biggest grin and waved to her as though she were my best friend, which caused her son, who couldn't have been more than 12, to burst out laughing. It's one of my finest moments -- I didn't retaliate, I killed her with kindness. What was she trying to teach her child with the anger?
Just so you'll know, I do let folks in front of me when there isn't ample notice, or there has been an accident or whatever. I even let people pull out from side streets and businesses when there is lots of traffic... just not when you're going down the highway and you've gotten miles and miles of signs telling you that the road will narrow from 20 lanes to 3, so you need to move over now!

HAHA. Go MaCcA. As someone who drives an hour to work each way, I experience alot of that. Its worse when you are very familiar with the road and see the same things happen every day. "OK its 7:25 AM and in about 2 minutes, someone is going to ride all the way to the end of that lane, cut someone off and possibly cause an accident". Happens every day. Oh and I normally use my signal when I need to. (i.e. so that you can turn out of the road I'm turning into) However in this case, there was noone behind me and I moved over long before I needed to. There was no way that guy was worried about me hitting him or anything like that.
Oh! and I love this little move where someone slows down in the normal lane, then halfway merges into a turn lane, slows down more, then turns, finally going through the turn lane and putting their blinker on at that last second! Wonderful! A work of pure art! uggh! -> I dont really get that mad. It really just amuses me. oops I used colored text.

Macca I know exactly what you mean. When you are going down Battleground and you get to the intersection at Horse Pen Creek the right lane ends. It happens to me every single day on my way home. UGH. I have an older car and in chugs a little up the hill, but man you better believe that I am going to dog it so that nobody cuts in front of me at that intersection. Never fails there is always a car that blasts past me trying to squeeze in.
They only way I would let someone in would be if they looked old or confused. I know when you are a regular blaster.
If they can drive they need to be able to read. They can see the land ends sign just like I can. Don't try to be polite now and turn on that turnsignal, it will not work with me. I am loyal to the 20+ cars behind me that you just blew by.
What makes these guys think that whatever they are going to go do is more important than what I have to do? I am on my way home. I have to go check the blog for heaven's sake.
People who drive like this are selfish, just selfish. They put themselves before all others. Wonder if they are that selfish in all aspects of life. I would hate to be married to one of them, it could make for a lonely night.

EUSON,
Your entry reminded me of this man I used to know. He was a little guy, older and feisty as they come. He'd tell me stories about people trying to cut in front of him in line at the bank or something. This would be standing in line inside the bank. He said he'd actually tell them, "If you were in that big a hurry, you shoulda left home earlier!" I always thought that was a neat comeback...
Too bad "they" don't let us rule the world, huh? We wouldn't let those pushy guys rule!

I like that intersection at Battleground and westridge right at applebees. That lane there has to turn right onto old battleground and those signs are always looking like someone ran them over. I used to come home that way every day and it was kind of a sport to see how many cars were going to get stuck over there and possibly run the island and signs over. I never saw it happen though. I did see some van run over the edge of the island barely missing the signs.
P.S. macca I wasnt commenting on you mistyping my name, I was just having fun with the shift key. I think my name probably should be capitalized though.

Yeah, mine probably should be too, but I didn't register that way initially.

OMG Bama! Battleground and Westridge!
You know when you have to go to town. That one lane that has to stop and let everyboby make their left turn into the shopping center. The other lane is still moving. We can't move because some idiot is in the middle of the road inching his way into the lane with a flow, wanting someone to stop going straight so... they came make their left. Don't worry about the traffic backed up to New Garden and the light at Westrigde has changed three times. We all need to wait for the idiot, so he/she can whip in to use a 24 hour teller machine. UGH!!
Thanks Bama I needed that.
PS FYI When my son got his license, first time out by himself he came home and said what was the point of driver's ed and a year with a permit - Nobody follows the rules!
Welcome to the world son

OK, it happened again, there I was approaching the intersection at Horse Pen Creek. I was cruzin' normal speed, and about right there where the Auto Zone is there she was.... A regular, she was going to try and race me. I saw her looking at me, trying to size me up. She was about 40 looked like she might have a couple of kids, she had this blue haired lady riding shotgun. I was sizing her up too.
I thought I know it is Christmas time and all, but we just talked about this intersection on the forum, and this chick is not going to cut in, after all Macca reminded us that they have just as much time as we do to read those signs.
Now Macca and I seem to be pretty nice overall, but we are still going to use whatever is in our power to keep these clowns from cutting in. So I hit the gas, the car sounds like it is going to choke to death. I act like I don't hear it coughing. She guns it. You could tell that Grandma is over there yelling "nail it!!!" I thought "not today ladies, not going to happen for ya." There was nothing behind me they could have easily filed in after me, but no, got to race me up the hill.
The light is still green, I am smiling, tickled to death, because I was up on the car in front of me pretty tight, no way she and the blue haired Betty are getting' in. I could taste the victory. It felt good. I look over in the side mirror, I don't know why; I really wanted to see the disappointment on her face. I am sick, I know. I'll be darned if she didn't have her turn signal on to turn right. It could have been on since Auto Zone, who knows. I have now wasted several gallons of gas racing myself up the hill, and really thought I got one over on them. I eased off the gas and just took myself home, vowing to never race at that intersection again.
