the worst thing too is that the cops will probably not "find" anything... or anyone responsible for it....

Vicki,

I'm so sorry for your son :(

Maybe the police will be able to track something down. Was his music system marked with name, serial number, etc?

Well, we got the call Friday about what it'll cost to fix the car -- just over $800, which doesn't include the dashboard. That's for the locks, window and side mirror. The police report lists it as "more than $200."

Of course, no word about his precious cargo. Lots of "If I'd done this..." or "If I hadn't done that...." Scott bought him one of those titanium high security steering wheel locking tools .....

Oh, yeah. This isn't really "road rage," more of an observation, I guess. Our younger son went to "Physics Camp," at the Natural Science Center last week. The first morning I just went straight down 220 to get there, but then went home via Lawndale/Lake Brandt Road. From then on, that was my morning route, with variations if I picked him up, since I might have other places to go.

I much prefer the "scenic route" any time I travel, and I believe it was faster as well, with very little traffic and no traffic lights most of the way.

My observation has to do with the light at Lake Brandt and Highway 150. Since I was on Lake Brandt, I was very aware of the backup there. It was always 5 - 6 cars. I guess I'm surprised some of you who travel it all the time haven't groused about it at least a little -- or maybe I just noticed it because I was trying to get the little one somewhere on time!

How about a new road rage story....

My daughter & I were riding along Pisgah Church Road about 5:15pm on Tuesday & these boys in a light Gray Toyota Scion came up beside us on the left lane and threw something stinky at us!  Whatever it was that was thrown hit my windshield.... I tried to get a tag# but they began speeding away... we followed them for a bit to try to see the tag & ended up on Old Battleground where they turned into a neighborhood... if anyone knows a red headed kid with a friend that drives this type of car... I'd love to speak with their parents!  I called the police, but without a tag# I doubt they can determine who these kids were.

DT I know you didn't "Ask Lacka" but I feel I need to give my advice on this one.  Let me just make sure that I have this right, they threw something stinky?  What in the world did they throw?????

Here is what I would do.  I would run over to CVS and get a couple of pieces of poster board, I would say that three would make a nice visual statement.  I would select one of the neon colors to get everyone's attention.  I would put on the poster board:

Number one:

A description of the car in large letters so that everyone can read it

Number two:

A description of the boys as detailed as possible

Number three

A description of what they did, and a description of the stinky

Borrow some tomato stakes from Pappy and head on over to the neighborhood that they vanished in.  Put the signs in a position so that everyone can see them as they leave for work that morning.  If you can't go early in the am, do it on a Saturday.

Now you will want to do this before school starts because I am betting that they are teenagers who sleep late and you do not want to risk them seeing the signs that morning before the rest of the neighborhood.

Chances are that mom and dad will see the signs, recognize the description,  turn around and go yank those kids out of the bed.........If the parents don't see it chances are that nosey neighbor will see them and will be more than pleased to get the information back to the proper parents......

Hey... what a great idea, Lacka!  It is worth the cost of the poster board & my time x10 if it works... I'll have to try it!  This gives my daugher & I a good project this week......  ;)

They are being punished enough if they are riding around in one of those UGLY Scion cars.  YUK!

Just kidding.... I think Lacka's idea is a good one!

This particular Scion is not one of the "box" looking types... rather this one looks a lot like the Corolla... small and sporty.  I actually thought it was a regular Toyota until my daughter (who has better vision than I) pointed out it was a Scion.  Dang youngins!  I hope their parents DO find out about this mess... I thought surely they'd messed up my paint job!

So, DToney... Have you decided when/if you're going to anything else to try to track these characters down? You'll have to let us know how it all turns out!! :D ♥♥♥

we've had so much going on... hubby just got back from AL & we had hair appts last night... I really have not had time to do anything. maybe we can whip together something ... thought about posting some fliers around the area with a downloaded pic of the car!  Or even had one suggestion to do posters in the area where it happened to alert parents their "Little Johnny" has been up to no good with the hopes of someone recognizing the car!

With this "out of sight out of mind parenting" that is so popular these days... even if mom & dad were to recognize the description of the car... I wonder if they would do the "Not my kid" thing.... it really upsets me that kids are so disrespectful sometimes... kinda reminds me of Vickie's son's break-in!

I think I remember that she wrote something in the NW Observer another time about his car being "egged" one night... Was it eggs that these boys threw at you?:shock::shock:

I can't believe this happened in such a well-traveled area in the middle of rush hour! Had they done anything before they threw whatever it was? Any idea why they chose you?

Oh! I just had an idea! Maybe you could put up some kind of sign in the area where it happened and ask if another driver got more identifying info. Maybe someone else got the license #, or at least part of it. I would think it would be helpful even if it was just a partial, but I'm just basing that on stuff I've seen on TV!:D ♥♥♥

we were almost beside them... could not see their faces & the red headed kid on the psgr side flung something out of the window... don't know what it was... smelled like  permanent hair solution or ammonia or something.... really upsetting... i've held off on buying a "brand new" car & to have someone else do something to mess it up... well, you know... (ggrrrrrrrrrrr!!)  :X
