If I had a house that big, my house keeper would have to come everyday!

It takes no time for my family to sabotage my house once it is straighted up.

No need to worry 'bout no earthquakes 'round here, Crackah. Pappy's got a natural disaster readiness plan that requires no effort an' no money.

Kudzu!

Let the kudzu grow an' soon your house will be safely strapped in an' ready to handle any bumpy ride Mammy Nature might take it on.

Pesky earthquakes openin' chasms under your house? No problem! Pappy's Kudzu Safety Net will cradle your American dream in a kudzu hammock o' safety an' comfort!

Dang tarnadoes tryin' to relocate your house downwind? Pappy's Kudzu Safety Net will hold any dwellin' down to earth.

Torrential frog-strangler flash floods tryin' to water down your real estate investment? Haw! With Pappy's Kudzu Safety Net you can not only weather any storm but mebbe catch a few catfish to serve at the after disaster party! Yee Haw!

Does anybody have some input on different blooming plants at different times of the seasons -- just for added beauty that can be added (and keep in mind LOW MAINTENANCE)?

Grits, what a wonderful idea. If anyone is interested in spearheading an immediate azalea planting, I will be more than happy to contribute 5 azaleas of the color of your choice or send a check in the amount of $25.00. Buds and Blooms Nursery over in Browns' Summit has 2 gallon azaleas for $4.95 each and 3 gallon for $9.00. Buds and Blooms is a wholesale nursery, but they will sell them to groups such as what you have proposed.

I also like Jane's idea of a town beautiful organization, and if you do decide to incorporate such a platform for beautifying Summerfield, there is an azalea grant program through the NC Beautiful Organization in conjunction with NC State which provides free azaleas on an annual basis (although a written proposal has to be submitted in advance. More details about this program are available through the NC Beautiful website listed below:

Thank you so much Jim. I was indeed aware of this grant, but I wass not sure where to look. Summerfield Elementry and Laughlin received this grant several years back.

I will have to check with Rarks and RECs and Mayor Brown before I do anything, but I will keep your generous donation in thought.

I really do appreciate your thoughtfullness. Any more helpful info, please send it my way.

Pappy, after careful consideration of the various costs involved, I'm thinkin' that Kudzu might be the more economical route than a 900,000 house.....

How funny you are!

Pappy I had noticed lots of Kudzu yesterday on my walk around park.  I will try to bring it up Thursday night at Parks and Recs meeting to see what the Town has in mind.

See Grits there may be lots of other people out there interested in this beautification project.  Thanks Jim for the ideas. There are grants for everything aren't there?

Morning All!! Mr. Mike I see you lurking around waiting to see how the chicks are doing. They are fine. It is a gorgeous morning out. Cool and crisp. The birds are just singing away. I need to check on the bluebirds and make sure the babies are being fed and growing. Has anybody else been buying Strawberries this spring? They are scrumptious. I have gotten some there on 220 from Nelson's. Excellent. Also asparagus is growing up a storm.

Mr. Mike excellent speech last night. I was surprised and pleased at all the people who turned out. Lots of Friends for Summerfield. The Council made a wise decision and life goes on. Everybody have a really good day.

Mornin' all!

I've risked life and limb twice so far this year to stop at Nelson's on 220 for Berries!  :D  Ya'll be real careful entering and exiting that spot.  :? I think Pappy's got the right idea.... reel some in from the lakeside.

I also bought some at the farmer's market this weekend.  It wasn't from Nelson's though.  Some girl outside the door where Nelsons is set up was saying that she had the sweetest berries at the market.  She was givin' out samples and she wasn't lyin'! Those berries were sooooo sweet! Yum!
