Mr. Mike, Scuba Jane must have rethought your idea of frying chicks.  When I got done at the horse barn this morning I stopped by the chick house and smelled something burning.  It seems the light had fallen into the shavings and was smouldering slightly.  Now Scuba Jane says the chicks knocked it down, but I am beginning to wonder.

Morning all!

Cracker, which was your favorite house?  I want to view the showcaseS but if I don't make it all, which house would you highly recommend--one that is the must see?

I saw the book and there were several in the vineyards. They all looked over-priced if you ask me. Of course, the people that buy houses like that want to pay more so they can brag about how much they paid for it. That way they tell all their friends in the Bunco club that theirs cost more.

Agree about the Bunco Club---glad I never got caught up in that. I still appreciate my little ranch.

Hey Pappy.  I can assure you that I didn't buy ANY houses!  I couldn't afford to furnish even one of the rooms!  I couldn't afford the RUG for one room! Saw some really interesting features though...

For instance, one of the homes had all of the light switches mounted a few inches higher than normal. Doesn't sound like a big deal, but it was enough that I noticed it.  I just figured it had something to do with the high ceilings. Then we went in one that had all the light switches mounted very low....like a foot lower than normal. We figured maybe it was to make the house more handicap friendly or something.  When we asked about it, the builder said he put them low so that they wouldn't interfere with art on the walls. Thought that was cool.

There were also several homes that had very attractive swing arm spigots over the stove so that you could easily fill up your pots with water when you are cooking.  Now that was cool......

Lots of pretty wood and granite in most of the houses too.  Transoms used as little closet doors, and a house in the Vinyards (Beautiful house) made of some kind of masonry block and rebar that's supposed to be safer because of the fault line that we live on (ok.. I don't think I knew that we were in a earthquake prone area, but the block seller guy told me we were )

I don't know. I just enjoy seeing what's out there.... Checkin' out how the other 95% of the folks are livin'.  :P

I don't know I always came home from looking so tired. Some of the houses would have 6 or 7 sofas in them. Made me tired just trying to figure out which one to sit on and the really big thing that tired me out was Who in the world keeps these houses clean?  I know what a problem I have with dust bunnies and dog hair in my ranch house I can't imagine how bad it would be in one of those gigantic houses.

Now Jane, you know if you could afford a millyun dollar house, you wouldn't be cleaning it yourself!  Of course for some of them, you'd have to have a whole cleaning crew because one housekeeper certainly couldn't do it. :?
