Much Ado About Nothing (MAAN) was once a tri- town gathering place. To some, it was the "hottest" spot in town. There were at least 675 pages, and over 108,000 views to the pages of MAAN. We even had a few Dignitaries who would drop in from time to time. At the time of this posting, the MAAN days were numbered due to space limitations with the forum's server. While we were all sad to see the old pages disappear, we decided to start a new place for folks to hang out when they weren't posting on the other, more serious topics.
Everyone is welcome on MAAN II but beware - once you've posted here you're automatically classified as a MAANiac.
To begin this thread, I thought it might be appropriate to show some similarities between the play, "Much Ado About Nothing" and the MAAN forum....
If you've read the play, then you know probably know that several obvious themes are prevelant...... The same is true on MAAN.
Social Grace - The language Shakespeare uses in this play is heavily laden with metaphor and jazzed up with rhetoric used by the courtiers of the Renaissance era in their social interactions.
MAANiacs - We love metaphor and jazzed up rhetoric so therefore we are full of social grace.
Deception as a Means to an End - The play is based on deceptions. Some benign and some... not so benign. The play shows that deception is not always evil but can certainly be used as a means to an end - whether or the end is good or bad.
MAANiacs - We would never deceive anyone so this theme is irrelevant.
The Importance of Honor - Ok.. most of this I really can't go into because of that 9 year old rule, but suffice it to say that this chick in the play lost her "honor" and in those days that was not such a good situation to be in. Men were able to defend their honor by fighting and women were not so lucky.
MAANiacs - Ok... maybe this theme doesn't really apply either.
Here's one! You know that chick who lost her honor?
Her name was HERO.

Red type! Red hearts!
This must be the place!
<Insert graphic of Pappy with his saddle over his shoulder, his carbine within reach beside a shelterin' boulder, settin' up camp in this untamed wilderness. A brief glance back over that last mountain, a hint o' moisture at the corner of his steely eye (sweat, no doubt from his manly exertion), an' then...to work.>

Maybe its some of the band members of Daughtry getting on here. In the article in the NWO, Chris said most of the band members were from NC so he makes the Cali members come to NC to practice. Maybe they were logging on in their spare time with "the real Idol". (Chris was cheated)
bama80=not really an Idol follower.

I was pretty sure you weren't an Idol follower, but now that he's a local, we have to keep up and be informed don't we???
I saw that article too bama and I saw him on FOX 8 yesterday mornin'. Some caller asked him if the band he was with now (Daughtry) consisted of the same band members from his old band (Absent Element). There was an uncomfortable silence before he answered no.
So.... I'm wondering what happened to the old band... Were they just not pretty enough? Not talented enough? Did they decide that they liked playin' bars instead of Astrodomes??? I want to know the real scoop! So if you happen to see Chris in the Grocery Store or hangin' out at Tractor Supply how about askin' him for me. Thanks!

Just wanted to pop in and say "HELLO MAAN II"
Cracker, I had no idea of the depth of much ado about nothing......I need to get some culture!
I did recently go over to High Point to see "The Taming of the Shrew". Whew, it made me remember how confused I was in English class at NW when we studied Shakespeare
I hope everyone is doing well?! TGIF!!! I'll be at the football game tonight helping the band cheer on the team!

Congrats Jimbo!

Glad to see Kris breezin' thru here! I gotta confess that I'm usually pretty confused about that Shakespeare stuff too Kris. I got this secret weapon though. Himmer's name is Triscuit.
Hope you take a warm blanket to bundle up in at that game burrrrrrr!

Feels like Christmas outside!!!!!
Am I allowed to do Christmas yet Macca??? I carved a pumpkin and ate pumpkin seeds and even went out scavengin' for cavities!
Besides, I saw Andy Williams singin' "It's the MOST Wonderful time of the year" on a commercial for Branson last nite. If Andy says it's time, then I'm thinkin' it's time!!!
