'Tis days like this that remind me why I bought and froze 8 quarts of church made brunswick stew last Fall. Sure enjoying it on a day like today. Nice nap weather too!

How a dog's life can make you happier
By Martin Hodgson
Published: 22 January 2007
If you are looking for a healthier life, get a dog. Scientists have long believed that the companionship of a pet can be good for you, but new research suggests that dog owners are physically healthier than cat owners.
According to Deborah Wells from Queen's University, Belfast, dog owners tend to have lower blood pressure and cholesterol levels, possibly thanks to regular walks with their four-legged friends.
Writing in the British Journal of Health Psychology, Dr Wells said that dog owners appear to suffer from fewer minor ailments as well as fewer serious medical problems.
In a review of dozens of previous studies, Dr Wells found that dogs also seem to aid recovery from serious illnesses, such as heart attacks. One study published in 1995 found that dog owners were more likely, by about 8.6 per cent, to be alive one year after a heart attack than those who do not own a dog.
Dr Wells said: "It is possible that dogs can directly promote our well-being by buffering us from stress. The ownership of a dog can also lead to increases in physical activity and facilitate the development of social contacts, which may enhance physiological and psychological human health in a more indirect manner."

That avatar is a hoot Skiddles!!!!
Jim, your dog post reminded me of something. Once, a long time ago, the GC School system sent home one of their famous "informational" sheets reminding parents to feed their kids before a test. They suggested Tuna for breakfast... something about it being brain food.
They also suggested having your child spend time with their pet before leaving for school on test day, but after reading your article above, I'm thinking that I may have done my kids a diservice by sending them out to pet the chickens.......

There sure have been some good football games this weekend! So now we have The Patriots, Bears, Saints and Colts to battle it out next week! So, can the Patriots ride the Colts in Indianapolis to victory? Can the Saints bear to face the Bears in Chicago?
What is the prevailing wisdon on the forum about this? Who will be in the Super Bowl?
HEY, NO TAKERS ON MY CHALLENGE???
These games are coming up this weekend!!! NO ONE is going to watch 'em???
My guess is that the Patriots and Bears will meet in the Super Bowl. (Yeah, I know, I'm really goin' out on a limb here! Dancin' all the way!!) ♥♥♥
Well, I'm halfway there! End of the 3rd quarter and the Patriots are ahead of the Colts by a TD! This has been a good game -- however, the Bears/Saints game was a fiasco! Final score 39-14

BIGGEST COMEBACK IN A PLAYOFF GAME IN HISTORY!
COLTS WIN BY INTERCEPTING A TOM BRADY PASS WITH LESS THAN 30 SECONDS TO GO.... FINAL SCORE 38-34....
Colts' coach Tony Dungee (sp?) is the first African-American coach to take a team to the SuperBowl! (Won't it be nice when these kinds of things become so commonplace that they are no longer a big deal?) ♥♥♥
Well, I thought the Patriots would win, but I'm happy for the Colts... They deserved to win.... Hopefully we'll have a GOOD SuperBowl this year! I'll have to study up and decide who I think will win that one!

GOOD MORNIN' EVERYBODY!!!
I see Mr. Mike and Jimbo beat me here this mornin'!
I guess we didn't do the right dance!!
The little maccas are pretty disappointed that there isn't at least a school delay, and I'm kinda surprised, since Rockingham and Stokes counties are both delayed.... Maybe their problems are more north than we are! Sure hope so!!!
At least don't appear to be any weather-related traffic problems!♥♥♥
