I assume 100%???

I'm assuming the 100% invested is widely distributed among a basket of solid and liquid assets?

Re: Spanking the "terrible" out of the twos.

I heard on PBS radio, I believe, that the law they were trying to pass in CA applied only to spanking children 3 years old or younger. I guess the CA legislature believes that once a child turns four, parents can spank them all they want. I have four children and have never spanked any of them at any age or even implied that I would if necessary. I have used all sorts of other methods to guide their behavior in directions I deem appropriate. Some methods are described in the website: behavior.org. As far as I know my offspring are all fairly well adjusted, and have not had conduct problems. Occasionally I have even told them to do a schoolwork assignment for me by telling me a way to practice being a bit bad in class the next day. Sometimes I've warned the teacher.
In my opiinion spanking children, especially very young ones, is an archaic practice mostly used by persons who are either unaware of alternative ways of promoting constructive action or who are, for their own reasons, are so emotionally involved in their child's compliance that they lose all objectivity and react impulsively. I my opinion if spanking is used at all with older children it should be done in a deliberate, controlled manner that includes other positive means of supporting more adaptive choices.

Not sure how I feel about the government making this decision for us, where will it stop.  I am one who does not believe in spanking.  I have found that taking time and talking with my kids works.  Those of you who know them may disagree.....  I have been known to pop a kid a time or two, last time I did that I had to reach UP to pop my 15 year old in the back of his head when he thought that he needed his smart mouth....I turned my back and chuckled, and thought what good did that do.

I really do not think that spanking is the way.   I realized when mine were little that they were one day going to be bigger than me (we have seen that day) and that there has to be a better way.  If I raised them to fear me for a spanking what would I do when they were larger than me???  Kinda silly to visualize that.  I think that I made the right decision by talking to them, letting them make decisions, and giving them options.   Explaining why I was upset with them and telling them that I loved them seemed to work for us.
