Hey Pappy. I am throughly depressed. 2 months of non left foot weight bearing. I will let you know when to start counting because so far I can't non weight bear at all. My right foot hurts way worse than the left and I can't put full weight on it. My wonderful husband took me to appointments today but he has to work tomorrow so not sure what I will do. I am going to get a portable wheel chair because the crutches are killing my hands. I am generally out of sorts tonight. Thanks for asking though.
Sorry you gotta go through this mess, Jane. Normally, I'd recommend drinkin' lots o' pain killer but then you gotta get up an' go to the bathroom.

Since I think that "leadership" is a concept which goes well beyond just the Summerfield community and even the Northwest area, I would like to throw out a question here under this thread, rather than to post it and limit it to discussion in the Summerfield thread.
Here is the question for today: what is the one essential vital quality, characteristic or trait which you think every 'leader' must have in order to 'lead'? Please give this question some deep thought and then share your ideas with all of us.
Ya'll have fun with this one, and I will share my thoughts late this evening.

Jim, Picture this . A leader takes you by the hand and "Leads the way." Not by getting behind you and pushing you the way he or she wants you to go.
Good Q&A subject by the way.

Dang, Mr Jim. Why you always gotta start a good discussion when I'm busy?
"The river carves out the valley by flowing beneath it.
Thereby the river is the master of the valley."
I'm stallin' while I take care o' some bidness...Hee hee!
It takes me a lot longer to eat a dozen biscuits than it used to.

Mr Jim, you're a-workin' us too hard. I gotta talk about bacon some to ease my mind.
Let's see now...a good leader is like a bacon biscuit. More or less like ever' other biscuit on the outside, but inside...HAW...inside there's a compellin' solid homespun goodness that beckons an' mesmerizes an' makes you wanna get up an' holler, "WE WANT BACON BISCUIT! WE WANT BACON BISCUIT!"
The other biscuits wonder what bacon biscuit has that they don't. Butter biscuit is a smooth talker an' has a good tan, but some think Butter lacks real substance -- a good biscuit to have on your side when hunger attacks, but not really the first one people turn to if given a choice. Sausage biscuit definitely has some substance an' would likely get a good portion o' the olfactory vote, but is maybe a little too hot-headed fer a leadership role. Egg an' Cheese biscuit has some appeal an' even has a bit of a cult followin', but maybe seems too much of a fringe player to get too far. Chicken biscuit can definitely carry its share o' the load an' is fast becomin' a serious contender with wide appeal, but some people wonder if it's not too much of lightweight to hold up under pressure.
Pappy likes 'em all, but to me, the choice is clear.

So Pappy, I take it your vote goes to the politician who can Bring Home The Bacon!

My thought........a leader must have VISION.
Lot of other things go with this, ie Integrity, Business Acumen, People Skills, Morals, etc, but, like I posted in the other forum......if you don't know where you're going, how will you know when you get there?
Leaders are so busy looking forward, they don't have time to look backward. They're not wringing their hands over past failures, they're planning course corrections to get back on track.
Bob Williams made a great comment the other night when he was the sole vote against the property vote......."we're charged with looking to the future", Bob I was sure proud of you & your standing up for what you believed. Tells me you are clearly looking to the future.
