Pappy's been tryin' to catch up, but I keep bumpin' into these straw man critters. Y'all seen any of 'em around?

An example of a straw man fallacy:

Person A: I don't think children should run into the busy streets.
Person B: I think that it would be foolish to lock up children all day with no fresh air.

By insinuating that Person A's argument is far more draconian than it is, Person B has side-stepped the issue. Here the "straw man" that person B has set up is the premise that "The only way to stop children running into the busy streets is to keep them inside all day". --Wikipedia

Pappy?   Is a Strawman the same thing as a Scarecrow???

Seems I once knew a song that a scarecrow sang, but I can't quite remember the lyrics....

Ah well... It's probably a good thing because that tune would be stuck in my head all night...

Sorry. I tried to be gentle. Hee hee!

I will not be forced to comply with anyone else's narrow view o' what it means to be a macho man. Who I am is fer me to decide.

I think there are more serious problems to discuss than your personal hangups and I apologize to the others fer wastin' so much forum space on it.

I rest my case. My point was well made even if it wasn't well taken.

I remain comfortable and feel privileged that the larger jury 'out there' will choose their own verdicts and decide fates as they see fit. Juries and voters rarely get it wrong.

Madam Prosecutor, call your next case.

Sorry to have disturbed you kind folks. Now you all can get back to your Alice In Wonderland story.

And You Ladies have a nice day.

My first is in tea but not in leaf
My second is in teapot and also in teeth
My third is in caddy but not in cosy
My fourth is in cup but not in rosy
My fifth is in herbal and also in health
My sixth is in peppermint and always in wealth
My last is in drink, so what can I be?
I’m there in a classroom, do you listen to me?

ENOUGH Already!!! Can we please just  agree to disagree and move on. This discussion is getting very tedious. I think everybody has heard everybody elses side and it is time to move on.
