Bama, from my perspective, the storm has passed and I made the case I felt needed to be made. I fully understand that majorities rule (as it should be) and I accept that. I knew the rules coming in and there just came the point where they no longer worked for me. That doesn't mean they don't work for you or that they need to be changed.

As the Buddha says, there is more than one path on the road to enlightenment.

You kind folks have been wonderful and more than kind to me, even when I did not deserve such and you will forever have my gratitude and appreciation for that.

For now and the foreseeable future, I will limit my comments and dialogue on this Forum to only those more serious topics involving land use matters, tax and public policies, and local government and elections, and will no longer post to the more light-hearted threads and topics. That is where my educational background and work experience lies and where generally behind the scenes and below radar I do my best. At heart, I am just an old political junkie and policy wonk.

My greatest strength as well as my greatest weakness, is that I am intense, passionate, partisan, provocative, and imperfect in all that I do and seek yet to do and accomplish. My history is one of fighting for and taking the side of the underdogs and the disenfranchised and those without voice or power, and I will continue in that vein and for those battles needing to be fought for as long as the Good Lord gives me life and breath and presence of mind. In my imperfection, I sometimes tilt at windmills, but even our mistakes and missteps can give great value when we learn from them.

I wish all of you the best and will enjoy reading your wonderful and warm sense of humor here on the MAAN thread. I am unfortunately not all that much of a folderol kind of person (to my own avail) yet I have and will continue to enjoy yours from a distance.

Please carry on as you have so wonderfully in the past and as I am sure you will in the future. And please forgive my weakness and temper tantrums of the past few days. I truly am sorry and wish each and every single one of you well, whether I know you or not.

My Best To You All,

Jim

Jim, there is nothing wrong with fighting for the underdog.  I have done my fair share.  I have enjoyed many of our discussion and hope we have many more in the future.

Jim,

For me, to be informed is a large part of making a good decision for our communities. Looking at your options, both for and against, listening openly and sensitively to others, plus the major facts of what is morally correct, honest and ethical. You never know what others may bring to light that you never thought about, so I welcome your thoughts, thank you for sharing them.:D

Crackah! I did watch (not many options tonight) and thought Lakisha and Melinda were both outstanding. At least everyone's got talent at this point....

I think the top 4 should be women in Idol. The women are sooooo much stronger then the men this year.

Lakisha and Melinda for sure. They were great.

Pappy watched Burt Lancaster drive a train full o' Nazis through war torn France. Burt whupped 'em later fer what they done. Now that's entertainment.

Jane, was just telling spoose that I thought they shouldn't be voting men off one night and then women off just to keep it even, b/c I think the women are stronger .... Doesn't seem fair to keep men when they aren't as good as the women who are getting booted off....

Crackah, Have they always started out this way? I just haven't watched from beginning to end....

They have macca... At least for the last few years.....  I think they get down to 6 men and 6 women before they merge.  I think......

I agree.  The women are stronger, but there are a few who could stand to go.... Antonella and that blonde girl... oh what's her name.  She doesn't look comfortable in her skin..... Can't remember her name.

I'll vote for Burt Lancaster tonight when I cast my vote Pappy!!!! :D

Macca I agree. I think some really good women will be voted off for not as good men.  I think also the female Idol winners have done much better than the men. Kelly clarkson, Fantasia, Kerry Underwood seem to be really out shinning Taylor, Ruben. Fantasia sang the lead song from the Color Purple today on Oprah and every body was crying. What a really talented young woman she is. I would love to see that broadway play with her in it.
