Well, you see, ff12.... I figure it like this.... Ellie was just too far ahead of her time.... You know, she was a feminist when feminism wasn't cool.... Why, she was going to run for town council one time, I think! And how dare she be a pharmacist!!?! That was a man's job! Helen took the more traditional route, bein' a school marm and all.... Not so threatening... (Probably had something to do with preserving the good ole boy system or something.....)

Macca- The chicks around here pretty much die of old age. I have some chickens that live to be 8 or 9 years old. Of course they live that long if they survive all the preditors that constantly try to eat them for dinner. I collect eggs and give them to who ever and just enjoy having them around.

Yep! City-fied chickens! That's what happened to my fine feathered family members, Rhoda and Red and the gang! My roosters are crowing right now and that's really all I ask of them. Makes for such a happy morning.....
Thanks Jane for the chicken lessons!
Mornin' all!

Wow..... I really hate to tarnish Jimbo's reputation as illustrious expert on everything, but I found this on Wikipedia when I "googled" Walkertown NC. (Now admit it, you knew I'd "google" it!)
Walkertown was named for Dr. Robert Walker who was living at the site by 1771.
Cute story, Jimbo! Made us all laugh!

American Idol To Offer Disappointing Guest Stars And Keep Paula Abdul?
Every week there is new speculation about possible guest stars on American Idol and about possible replacements for Paula Abdul. After last season's Elvis Theme Week and Prince's guest appearance on the finale, expectations have been set extremely high for American Idol 6. Prince raised the bar for what American Idol fans now expect in regards to guest stars. And just in case excitement wasn't high enough, American Idol producers have gone even further and dumped gasoline on the already burning fire by repeatedly teasing about some type of surprise event show that will blow America away.
Just thinking back to American Idol 5, in addition to Prince, viewers were also treated to appearances by legends like Stevie Wonder, Barry Manilow, Kenny Rogers, and Rod Stewart. If you buy into the hype about the surprise event show and try to think about names that would somehow compare to or exceed last year's guest stars, then names like Paul McCartney, Michael Jackson, Bruce Springsteen, and Madonna obviously spring to mind.
In fact, considering Lythgoe's promise of the biggest thing to happen to Idol in five years, anything outside of Paul McCartney and Michael Jackson singing a duet while Bruce Springsteen plays guitar and Madonna dances provocatively with Elvis' corpse would likely be a disappointment.
Have been watching the guys on Idol tonight (nothing better to do) and ran across this story as I was surfing the web.... Thought that last graph was too good not to share... (but had to put it in context!)

Macca, to me, Slim Whitman would be a better choice than Prince , but I'll hope for Paul McCartney for your sake......
They need to focus on good song writers like Paul, Billy Joel, and Elton John if you ask me.... I've had enough Burt Baccarach (sp?) to last me a lifetime!

You really had to go all the way to researching Google and Wikipedia before recognizing the sartorial splendours of SPOOF and the sang-froid scintillas of SATIRE?

Oh no, not at all.
I rather enjoy word play if you haven't noticed.
Strunk and White are two of my best friends.
So is Twain.

BTW, Jane.... There was nothing available when I looked up "scintillas" but dictionary.com does list "scintilla" as a minute particle; spark; trace: not a scintilla of remorse. Other definitions include: A minute amount; an iota or trace.
A spark; a flash. 1. a tiny or scarcely detectable amount [syn: shred]
2. a sparkling glittering particles and a small trace or barely perceptible amount of something (as evidence supporting a position)
"Sang-froid" is defined as Coolness and composure, especially in trying circumstances.
