Was reading about Roy and Dale and started thinking about a film festival that I went to once..
I googled information and think that somehow I must be wrong. I thought when I was young that I met Kit Carson and Calamity Jane at this film festival at the Carolina Theater downtown. When I googled the ages/times that I got couldn't be right. Were they imposters?? Dang I have autographs. They had to be dead by then, or I am older than I think.....
I think I met Iron Eyes Coty, no wait, he was a no show. He was to be at Coke Country Stage (a rebellious stab at City Stage you old timers may remember) but I think he stood everyone up. Does anyone remember this?
Had my first crush at this film festival, Rodney somebody......He wasn't a cowboy or anything, just a normal guy. But boy was he cute in the 70's, heard he has a collectible store out on Lee St somewhere.....

HEY, BUBBA! One of the points Roy's daughter made today was that Roy, along with many of the stars of that time, had a contract with the studio, so the studio made all the money and gave him a pittance as a salary. She said that in order for them to have any kind of reasonable lifestyle they had to make personal appearances. It showed Roy and Dale at an Arby's somewhere, with a crowd gathered round to see them. I wish I'd known they were going to be at a local place back then...Oh, yeah! I wasn't born then... ♥♥♥

Bubba! A autographed pitcher o' Roy an' Trigger? Yee Haw!
Don't see heroes like ol' Roy in the movies these days...(sigh)
Say, weren't there a place called Roy Rogers Roast Beef or somethin' around here at one time? Or am I thinkin' about Kenny Rogers Chicken on Seinfeld? Maybe Arby's bought 'em out.

More interestin' Roy Rogers facts. Roy depended a lot on the advice of a anonymous ol' coot in them early days.
Here's a pitcher I just happened to have in my Roy Rogers wallet showin' the ol' coot advisin' Roy not to go in thar!
Here's one with the ol' coot advisin' Roy on the proper angle fer the winnin' shot. "Hold on an' lemme calc'late this fer a minute, Roy...let's see...the diameter o' the circumf'rence o' the hypotenuse will collide with the apogee an' the perogee o' the..."

Pappy! The show yesterday said that George "Gabby" Hayes had been a Shakespearean actor before landing the role of cowboy sidekick. Also said that he drove a Lincoln Continental and was quite a sophisticated gentleman -- when he had his teeth in! ♥♥♥

Interestin' too is the ol' coot in Treasure of the Sierra Madre was actually quite a sophisticated actor too.
Obviously, the role of ol' coot is not fer amateurs or those with unrefined tastes. Hee hee!
