Lacka last night must have been the night for critters only mine was alive. I happened to look up as this giant spider lovingly known as a wolf spider went dashing across the kitchen floor. I lept out of the chair, picked up the biggest book I could find ( my dictionary) ran across the floor just as my husbands puppy put her nose down to see what this critter was. I held the book up from about 5 feet, slammed it on the critter and screamed bloody murder. Scared the dog to death, she went out side and would not come back in until my husband came home. It is amazing how much guts a spider has!!!

Good Morning All!

Ewwwwww on the spider thing Jane.

Haven't done this in a while.....

The Word of the Day for September 5 is:

confrere   \KAHN-frair\   noun
     : colleague, comrade

Crackah's example sentence:
Although Tonto was a popular figure in the western genre, he's most often recognized as the confrere of a much more renowned legendary hero.

I'm thinkin' that this french version of "kemosabe" wouldn't have had quite the same impact. :D

Pretend it's sunny and have a great day ya'll!!!

Cracker- I could not find a shoe except the one on my foot and I sure wasn't going to step on it with the shoe that was connected to my foot allowing the spider to possibly leap up and attach itsself to me.  lI would have had to leave the room , taking my eye off it and having it excape in the house and having to worry about it crawling in my bed while I slept and walking across me. If my husband had been home he would have caught it and put it back outside. He is much more sympathetic to the plight of spiders than I am. So that is how I arrived at the dictionary. It was heavy I could stand far enough away as I dropped it to not allow the killer spider to leap towards me. Cleaning the guts off was a minor inconvenience you see!!!

I fully understand your plight Jane.  They sell dictionaries at Edward McKay.  I'd be shopping for a new one myself.

I do have a little tip for next time.....I find it quite helpful if you squeal loudly when disposing of the meatier creatures..... then you can't hear the crunch.

:D
