7:15 ish.... still tapping.
You KNOW his beak has to be sore!!!!
What a tenacious bird.
Both of them.
(Shird and the one Shird is trying to scare away)

Dear Birdbrain in Summerfield,
Don't get your feathers too ruffled. Jane is right it is not a shird it is a him. I consulted with a wildlife biologist at Penn State.
At the beginning of the breeding season, birds are establishing territories. They're singing, displaying and telling all of the other males of their species to keep out.
Have you heard the term bird brain used when a person does something that is not so smart? Well this is where that term comes from. When a bird sees his reflection in a window, he thinks it's an intruder. So he 'displays' to try to get the intruder to leave. Of course the 'intruder' displays back, (as the reflection) and the bird gets madder and madder until he starts pecking on the glass. Birdbrain this is why his crest looks so angry. He is ticked that he cannot get rid of the competition.
Once the birds breed, (not the one pecking on the window and the reflection, um, cause they really can't, but the male and female) the male hormones will drop and they'll become less aggressive.
You can always try putting a large rearview mirror in your yard -- like the kind from a truck. Check with the neighbors, sometimes people have these in their yards. (refer to yard art posting) You may be able to draw the bird's attention to the new intruder. (in the truck mirror) He will still be pecking, but it will be on the truck mirror in your yard. I would really suggest a larger mirror, like that ugly one that used to hang on the landing of your stairs, but anyway....
You could try taping a picture of a hawk to the inside of your window. This will need to be larger than a 31/2x5, silly, cause a little tiny picture of a hawk isn't going to intimidate anybird. You can try one of those plastic forms as well. Most birds will not come anywhere near the hawk. You can also place a fine net over windows. You can use the kind made for fruit growers to keep birds off of the fruit. The birds bounce right off of it and you can still see through it.
If you can just sit back for a little longer and take the pecking, you may be rewarded with a beautiful bird nest outside your kitchen window. Chirp chirp.... Just prey that he will stop soon.
Thanks for asking,
Lacka

If her head of hair doesn't scare a little birdie away, no hair will......

I agree Cracker. I was shocked with Chris leaving. It should have been Katherine based on performance but his life will never be the same. He probably will get a record contract and go on and do good things but I was really sad to see him go.

Wasn't that just wild???? And Ryan said it so quickly.... Shocking! I still can't believe it!!! I still think he was the most talented... I think the others just adjusted their styles in order to succeed. I think Chris stayed true to himself, and in the long run will be very successful! ♥♥♥
I don't know who to pull for now... I think I can be much more objective about talent now, though, since I don't have any special allegiance to any of them..... ♥♥♥

Purple spandex and all! Tee hee.
Just dropped in to blow a few XOXOX and run. I was upset about Chris too, (lower lip rolled over) what a surprise ... I thought he might go ALL the way. He will still do well, no doubt about it. I heard Kellie Pickler was in Nashville signing a recording deal. Go girl!

CRACKAH! I just don't know how you do it!!! We have 120 members, and you have the most postings of anyone.... I have the second highest and you are now nearly 1,000 ahead of me! How do you do it? ♥♥♥
I mean, you and I are the only ones with more than 1,000 posts.... and I struggle sometimes to find time to be on as much as I am.... You must be INHUMAN!!! Oh, yeah... Depending on what day it is, you're a junk food, a penguin, a mana miner, an Indian guide, Obi Wan Kenobe, Batman's sidekick (Robin! Maybe THAT'S why the bird is attacking! Oooops! Wrong topic!) or Nipper, the faithful dog! ♥♥♥
ANyway, CONGRATULATIONS ON 2400 POSTS!!!! ♥♥♥
I was able to get the whole gang together to celebrate this one!!!! ♥♥♥
