Shorty, over at Wilson's Grocery, had the old gas tanks removed from his Texaco station awhile back. Everyone knows the Mom & Pops can't compete, in the gasoline business, these days...
Imagine this... Shorty puts in 2 new pumps... Ethanol and Biodiesel. He'd have to be making more off those pumps, than having no pumps at all. He's close enough to the hike & bike trail around Lake Higgins to add supplies for the hikers and bikers, as well. Then, add a deck and some weekly local entertainment, and his place would be hoppin'!!
That's a great idea Aeolius.... I can tell you're and "idea man!"
Good luck on getting Shorty to consider such "new age" changes though! Somebody could probably make a pretty penny selling trail mix on that corner!!!
Funny you mentioned the alternative fuel thing.... I was listening to Murphy this morning and he had a lady named Shelley McClanahan from Dogwood Energy on the air. She was touting the benefits of brewing your own Ethanol at home for use in your car. Talked like it was real easy and it only costs 75 cents per gallon!! Of course you'd still have to mix it with 15% gas, but imagine buying only 15% of the gas you're buying now.... wow.
I was talking to my spoose about it at dinner tonight and since we have flex-fuel vehicles, we are looking into going into the "moonshine" business..... I'll update you when I sober up!!!

Dang... I didn't realize Pappy had snuck in... I sure wouldn't have been slinging that moonshine information around so freely.....
You know he's gotta be in the know about that kind of thing.
I could probably just skip building the still and run over to Pappy's to fill up the cars!

EVidently..... flex-fuel vehicles are vehicles that'll run either gasoline or a gas/ethanol mix... We did not intend to purchase such a vehicle, but our 2000 miniature van a.k.a. "The Loser Cruiser" is a flex-fuel vehicle. Just a coincidence and something I didn't even know til tonight when I was talking about my new moonshinin' knowledge with the spoose. We didn't pay extra for that feature or anything. EVidentlythere are bunches of them out there.
That Dogwood energy website (http://www.dogwoodenergy.com) says you can buy a relatively inexpensive converter to switch any car over to an ethanol drinker....
I just don't understand why, if it's so dang easy to make, someone isn't selling the stuff on street corners!

Y'all ready for a Da Vinci countdown??? Only one more week until the big premiere!!! I love movies but don't usually see them as soon as they come out, but I can't wait for this one! Am trying to convince the hubby to go, but will go by myself if I have to!!! ♥♥♥
For more info about the movie, here is a link you can follow....

I'm sure Pappy and Crackah know this, but "So Dark the Con of Man" is an anagram of one of Leonardo da Vinci's famous paintings. Any takers??? ♥♥♥
Soooooo disappointed -- I got no takers on my trivia contest!!! OK -- the answer is "Madonna of the Rocks". BTW, CRACKAH! I don't keep all this stuff in my head -- My copy of the book has gotten lots of use as I hear things and look them up! 6 more days.....♥♥♥

Speaking of movies, that's another avenue that Summerfield could invest in, to "one-up" Greensboro. We need an IMAX theater.

I can't imagine why we in this part of the county even need to worry about "one-upping" anybody! We've got it made out here -- fresh air, beautiful scenery, less traffic, wildlife to appreciate, streams, ponds, nice places to walk... and there's always some businesses to support when we need to make purchases. We don't have to travel far to take advantage of whatever commercial needs we have. ♥♥♥
Sorry, Aeolius, it seems that an IMAX theater would need a much larger financial support base when they determine where to put those, unless there is a corporate sponsor! Got any in mind????♥♥♥

I know... I know... technically an IMAX would fit perfectly at Friendly Center, near the new construction they have over there. Still, all the deer in my backyard are screaming for culture, dernnit!!
