Why thank ya Pappy! I'm a huge Nipper Fan!
Yesterday I took the mini me's to Goodwill for a big ol' shopping excursion. I found a bin of old 45's and while holding one up, I asked the highschooler what they were... Shem said "uh... I don't know, an 8 Track?"
Somehow I felt like I had failed as a parent.
Anyway, I bought one with a pic of ol' Nipper on it. Now I just have to find an 8 Track for comparison.......

Ahhhh a little Saturday mornin' trivia request?
Nipper was a real dog owned by a British theater stage painter named Mark Barraud. Nipper was a stray who Barraud adopted and named him Nipper because of his affinity for people's ankles.
When Mark Barraud died, his brother, Francis Barraud took Nipper in and one day noticed that Nipper was sitting and listening to the phonograph. He found it interesting that the dog would listen so intently and was inspired to paint the picture which he named some long drawn out name but later changed to "His Master's Voice".
Francis tried selling his painting to Edison-Bell (whose phonograph was depicted in the painting) but some dummy there made the mistake of declining the purchase because dogs don't listen to phonographs.... HA!
The folks at Gramaphone and RCA VICTOR knew better... They asked Barraud to change the machine Nipper was listening to and commissioned Barraud to paint 24 copies of that painting (to be used in their advertising) before he died.
Nipper is buried in a garden at Kingston-upon-Thames, in England and the site is marked with a plaque.
