For example, one shot was just showing the underside of the tanker and wheels like way zoomed in. They were not showing any wide angle stuff where you could tell what happened at all. So, I am looking forward to Jim's shots.
Bama, the problem that the television stations and all media had, was that the law enforcement personnel were not letting any of us get anywhere near the actual wreck scene. I was actually able to talk my way past the barricades and get about as close as anyone, yet it was still quite some distance from the overturned tanker. I was able to climb up on a Greensboro Fire Department truck and take photos with a zoom lens attached to my digital camera. I went back this morning and have taken some additional photos of some of the damaged vehicles at Bill's Truck Sales as well as the ongoing environmental cleanup which I will carry over to the NWO offices in Oak Ridge, to compliment the other 30 plus photos which I shared with them yesterday.
The local 'scoop' this morning, which appears to follow the Greensboro Daily News story, is that the fuel tanker truck which was headed north along Highway 68 appeared to be traveling faster than the posted speed limit but also had the green light in his favor. The fire department truck actually hit the rear axles of the northbound fuel tanker truck and by what could only be nanoseconds, avoided a mid-tanker collision which likely would have resulted in a large explosion or fire or both, which could have had a devastating result both in terms of human life and property loss. Still, when all the costs of the damages are added up, this accident caused more than a million dollars in damages to property, including what will be an extensive environmental cleanup. To say that a higher power was watching over all the parties involved yesterday would certainly be an understatement.

What kind of impact would this property damage, etc have on the services and resources the fire dept will have? I know that insurance will cover certain things but that does not mean other money will not have to be used.
Anyway, thanks for the info Jim.

GOOD MORNING!!!
Has everyone finished their shopping????
I'm nearly done... now the wrapping --- I have a love/hate relationship with wrapping! I love doing it, but then I hate that it takes so long!!!
I am DETERMINED to get it ALL DONE before Christmas Eve! Santa usually has to wait until pretty darn late to visit our house b/c I'm up so late wrapping!!
I THINK I have fewer presents to wrap this year.....
Hope everyone has a great day!!! ♥♥♥

Mawnin' all. Pappy ain't finished his shoppin' yet. I'm still takin' bribes from the young'uns over who's been bad or good. I've also had a runnin' argument with Santy over the years that not gettin' caught counts as "good", but he don't see it that way. Negotiations has slowly deteriorated, but I'm hopeful we can settle it this year with egg nog an' arm wrastlin'. Hee hee!
Looked like snow this mawnin', but didn't feel like it. Denver's gettin' a little blast, but this ain't Denver...

Good morning!!!!!
If we're wishin' for snow Jane, why stop at 1???
Ok... I'd take 1 if it stayed on the ground for at least a week. (Oh yea! That statement's gonna make me real popular! )
For the record, if it snows, NOBODY is allowed to walk, roll, drive or sled in my front yard. I like for my snow to stay nice and white and "blankety" looking.
So Jane, if you're throwing my paper up here, come up the driveway please!!!!
And Steve, if you want to make snow angels, use the backyard!
HAVE A HAPPY DAY EVERYONE!

Just hold off till after Christmas when Mammy gets her new chain saw (don't read that part, Mammy) an' can cut up a week's worth o' farwood (don't read that part neither, Mammy). Then I'll be right thar with you on that week o' snow, Crackah.
On t'other hand, don't hold up a white Christmas on my account. I got enough chifarobes I can bust up fer farwood to make it till Mammy gets goin'.

I'm thinkin' that I might have been approaching this whole snow thing from the wrong angle.... Perhaps if I wished really hard that it would be 85 degrees outside I'd get that snow!

Cracker Jax! You think like my 10-year-old son!!!! Poor kid has never seen a white Christmas and actually hasn't seen a really big snow. We've told him about big snows before he was born, but there has really been very little real snow in the past 10 years. He thinks a foot or 2 at a time would be great! (But he's 10, CJ!!!) I know you're just a big kid at heart! And what's wrong with that?

Ha! Shows how much you know, miss Vicki! When I was 10, I didn't care whether people walked on the blanket of snow in my front yard or not!!!!!!!!
Great to see you Ray! I was askin' a mutual friend how you were doing just this past week! Come on back any time!
