Monring All!! Its FRIDAY!!! Yeah!!! Yesterday was very busy and Ifinished snapping beans at 11 last night. Going to cook the beans today. I dusted the beans last evening for the first time. I try to keep my garden as natural as possible. but there is nothing natural about Japanese beetles eating down your bean row. There does seem to be much less beetles this year than in the past. Wonder if that cold snap in the spring got some of them or the dry weather they can't get out of the ground.  The cucumbers got way ahead of me so the chickens are feasting this morning on over sized cucumbers. They are happy about that.

Every body have a really good day.

Word of the Day for Friday, July 13, 2007

triskaidekaphobia \tris-ky-dek-uh-FOH-bee-uh\, noun:

A morbid fear of the number 13 or the date Friday the 13th.

T.G.I.F. even if it IS Friday the 13th!

Maybe Mister Mike will get 13 strips of bacon on his bacon biscuit this morning, or better yet, 13 buttered bacon biscuits. And if you're chasing chickens, here's hoping you catch 13!

Mornin' all an' a happy Friday. Did y'all hear about that calf with the mark on his haid that looked like a 7? He was the seventh calf born that year on that farm, an' was born on 07-07-07. It might tarn out to be a hoax inspired by X-X-X. Anyway, the farmer said he was gonna see what kind o' critter he got next year on 08-08-08.

Here's another one: paraskevidekatriaphobia -- A morbid, irrational fear of Friday the 13th.

(My source says that triskaidekaphobia is an irrational fear of things or events associated with the number 13.)

There have been a number of events known as "Black Fridays" in history. Usually, these events are devastating.

Some historians propose that the origin of the "Black Friday" was the simultaneous arrest of hundreds of Knights Templars (who play a large role in The Da Vinci Code) on October 13, 1307 (Friday), to be later tortured into "admitting" heresy.

The CBS Early Show is broadcasting live from downtown Raleigh today!!! They have featured NC barbecue (I only saw Eastern NC, but they may have had an earlier segment on Lexington-style and I just missed it), Ricky Scaggs and Bruce Hornsby, who have teamed up to produce a bluegrass CD!, Angus Barn and NC wines!! They had the winemaker from Childress (of course!) on that segment.:D

Good PR for NC, anyway!! :D

There sure were hundreds of folks and their dogs and cats over at the Summerfield Fire Department this morning for the special $5.00 rabies shots. One of the rabies clinic staffers told me the extra large crowds were no doubt due to the media reports of all the rabies cases in the Northwest and that they anticipated the number of pets that would be vaccinated today to be in the high hundreds. You should have seen the crowds and the waiting line was over an hour all morning they said.

I couldn't agree more on the beautiful day observations made even better by ripe 'maters! BLT biscuits for breakfast - what a treat.

I drove by the fire department several times today and there was a long line each time. Good service for all the animal owners in this area.
