Wow.......what a wonderful evening tonight at the Christmas Tree lighting in Summerfield.   Good Job Summerfield Youth Association !!!!!!!!!!!!!  You guys rock !!!

Really a great evening all the way...cool but pleasant.

The choral group from NWHS singing carols, Ms NC flipping the switch, the church group singing, all the food, and just socializing with really great folks.  Tonight you could just feel the heartbeat of Summerfield in the parking lot, and it felt good.

The baby dressed up like Santa was a little doll.  I won't mention who she belonged to, but if the proud parent wants to speak up, we'll understand.

You know, I am so sorry that I wasn't able to be there last night!! I was with you guys in spirit, though, believe me!! We have an annual family get-together this weekend since we all go our separate ways on turkey day!! It sure was good to see everybody -- all the nieces and nephews, even my ol' stick-in-the-mud sister-in-law and the other one that smokes like a chimney... but I digress....

Glad to hear you had a good turnout!! I'm hoping to make the OR and S'dale ones, although next weekend's gonna be tough, since we're headin' out of town to see the other side of the family (the spoose's)...... At least I'll get to see all these nice displays thru the season!!

It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas! Wonder if we'll witness a true "Grinch" story this year.... Oh yeah, you have to HAVE a heart in order to have a change of one...... ♥♥♥

Hey Pappy my interpretation of your dream is too much tipping of the jug and typing of the fingers. Got all mixed up in your head last night.

The Summerfield Tree Lighting was beautiful and inspiring.  I, for one, appreciate this gift of hard work that the Summerfield Youth Council members and their parents give to the town each year.  The music was sweet to the ears, the food was to die for, and the fellowship was heartwarming.  People laughing, shaking hands, small children running around, older children busy with preparations - what a great show of community spirit, and what a wonderful way to start the holiday season!

You got that right, Starcatchr. It was a great start to the holiday season!

I caught a little of the "Comic Relief 2006" fundraiser for Katrina relief last night, although I have to admit I kept having to turn the volume down and finally turned it off b/c it was too hard to watch. The language they used, and things they discussed, were VERY much adult in nature, but they must have been saying some REALLY awful things b/c they kept bleeping whole segments of some of the acts. ANyway, I went to the web site and found this Katrina Fact Sheet:

850,791 - Number of housing units damaged, destroyed, or inaccessible because of Katrina
900 - Approximate number of churches, synagogues, and mosques damaged or destroyed
50 - Approximate percentage of homes in New Orleans still lacking electricity
83 - Percentage of New Orleans schools damaged by Katrina
1/3 - Amount of debris yet to be picked up
49 - Percentage of bus routes now operational
17 - Percentage of buses back in service
$44,800,000 - Amount given to Louisiana by U.S. Dept. of Education for charter schools since Katrina
$0 - Amount given for traditional public schools damaged by the storm
100 - Number of destroyed miles on U.S. Highway 90 running along Gulf Coast between New Orleans and Pascagoula, MS

It is just INCREDIBLE to me that this is true 15 MONTHS after Katrina hit....

S'posin someone from outside of Summerfield, say Stokesdale for instance (now remember, we's just s'posin, and since this is only a hypothetical scenario, one cannot and should not ever 'spose it would ever really happen), s'pose they were to show up for the Summerfield Christmas Tree Lighting.

Would said out of town revelers (just call us a meddling bunch o' Yankee Do Gooders for short) need to come heavily armed or dressed incognito to avoid contamination by that group of rabblerousers (a/k/a concerned citizens) ya'll have infiltratin' your ranks? (We wants to make sure that what they got ain't contagious).

And Pappy don't go s'posin that we'uns would come dressed as no jolly fat man neither.

Since we'uns and Oprah weren't invited to the TomKat Wedding, where else would one go to see and be seen by all the celebrities?

6 O'Clock heh?

So, Jimbo! Did you make it to the tree lighting? Did you see any celebrities???♥♥♥
