Wow.......what a wonderful evening tonight at the Christmas Tree lighting in Summerfield. Good Job Summerfield Youth Association !!!!!!!!!!!!! You guys rock !!!
Really a great evening all the way...cool but pleasant.
The choral group from NWHS singing carols, Ms NC flipping the switch, the church group singing, all the food, and just socializing with really great folks. Tonight you could just feel the heartbeat of Summerfield in the parking lot, and it felt good.
The baby dressed up like Santa was a little doll. I won't mention who she belonged to, but if the proud parent wants to speak up, we'll understand.

I also went in the Town Hall to night and there was a orchestra Trio from NW playing Christmas carols. The decorations were just beautiful inside and when you looked in from out side it looked like a Christmas card. Thank you to Linda Southard and Diane Laughlin and I don't know who else for the beauriful period look to the museum at town hall.
The tree lighting was a blast. The kids did a great job and there were lots of people. This is what makes us a community.
Thanks all you hard working sycer's for another outstanding community tree lighting.

The tree lightin' was really nice. Them orchestra young'uns was all SYC members, by the way. Seems like a good crop o' young'uns. Pappy's proud of 'em. I hate Miss North Carolina didn't get my autograph.

Pappy had a dream last night. Cain't 'member much of it, but I remember bein' on the deck o' the Titanic glidin' through the darkness when somebody yelled "ICEBERG!" Instantly the impact knocked us off balance as all forward motion ceased an' Pappy was thrown into a chaos o' klaxon horns, panicked hollerin', an' frantic motion. An' that was just me. You shoulda seen the rest of 'em. Anyway, I could see it now, a great white mountain loomin' over us outta the black nothin'ness. As I stood starin' somebody bumped into me an' I almost went over the side. I was doubled over the railin' holdin' on with one hand an' givin' the coot salute with t'other when I saw the name painted on the side o' the ship. "Hey, this ain't the Titanic," I said. I pulled myself back up an' saw to my surprise that the ice mountain wasn't a iceberg neither, but the top of a huge white head blockin' our path! As comprehension slowly creeped back into my brain like a whipped pup slinkin' back home, I realized I was standin' on a big computer keyboard instead of a ship. The giant white head that was tryin' to block the way had been poked in its beady little eye by the corner o' the keyboard!
Hee hee! Dreams are strange critters. Who knows what that'n means.

The Summerfield Tree Lighting was beautiful and inspiring. I, for one, appreciate this gift of hard work that the Summerfield Youth Council members and their parents give to the town each year. The music was sweet to the ears, the food was to die for, and the fellowship was heartwarming. People laughing, shaking hands, small children running around, older children busy with preparations - what a great show of community spirit, and what a wonderful way to start the holiday season!

Y'know, Pappy, when the Titanic was goin' down, there mighta been some folks tryin' to rearrange the lounge chairs on deck.... and then there were those who made it to the lifeboats, some who called for help and then the band, which played as the ship went down.... I don't know what that has to do with anything.... Steve-o was playin' his hand at writing yesterday and maybe I caught the bug....
Remember: "The pen is mightier than the sword!" In this day and age with ALL the keyboards and Internet service we got, imagine how powerful WE are -- because we KNOW we have the power!!!
Take that, "iceberg" head! Poke! Poke!! ♥♥♥
