I saw your ORMA post, Macca, an' I had a similar incident at Food Dawg, so I thought I'd put it in Road Rage, even though it's really parkin' lot rage.

I deployed my drag chute an' pulled in the lot from the 220 side an' was pullin' up in front to drop Mammy off while I ran up to the post office when here comes a teenage girl walkin' right out on front of us. She had a cell phone to her ear an' never looked left or right, just walked out from the drink machine area. Didn't even look. Just walked right out. Still hasn't looked. If it wasn't fer my nerves o' steel an' lightnin' reflexes...well, I don't wanna think on it.

Why doesn't anybody look anymore? People used to look. I sware they did. I don't understand it.

You should have done a big ol' honk of the horn.  Scare the cell phone right out of her hand!  Of course she probably would have used her now-free-hand to give you the finger or some thing equally lovely.

:P

Is there a stop sign there that would lead her to assume that cars would automatically stop?

Wonder if this happens a lot there? I tend to go to Lowes Foods in OR more, and don't recall seeing this kind of thing happen. There are stop signs (although not everyone obeys them) and a large clearly lined area in front of the store for pedestrians. Even though it's there, I see people stop and make sure drivers see them before proceeding across.

I'm not a regular shopper at Food Dawg, but I wouldn't frequent a place that I thought had a hazardous parking lot.

Of course, some people are just oblivious to their surroundings and figure no one will run over them.... Parking lots can be dangerous!
