Cracker- Did you get your sled out? Thursday is the day!!!

Jane!! You can see I'm dancing (or tryin' to!!!) up a storm!! You think we'll finally get it??? According to the weather on News2 just now, it's gonna keep gettin' colder.... You think we might finally get some snow??? Sounds like we're gonna have some good opportunities for it!!! :D:D:D:D

Eric Chilton says maybe Sunday night/early Monday.... He thinks Thursday may produce some flurries.... temps in the 30s all day Thursday and then back to 40s during the day for a while, with colder temps overnight. Looks like we'll have some "typical" weather now.... ♥♥♥

Word Of The Day

Chilblains, also called Perniosis or blain, is a medical condition similar to frostbite or trenchfoot. Chilblains are caused by exposure of skin to damp cold. Small blood vessels below the skin are damaged, but there is no freezing of tissue, thus distinguishing it from frostbite. The condition is also distinguished by numbing of the affected area and the appearance of blisters or open sores. Chilblains do not usually cause permanent injury, but can result in severe damage if left untreated. Some patients have reported a sensitivity to cold in the affected area, long after the condition has healed. They are most common in the young and the elderly, and are more likely to occur in women. They can be prevented by keeping the feet and hands warm in cold weather. A chilblain can chap, crack, or ulcerate; and then is known as a kibe.

I might add that Chilblains aren't the same thing as chilled brains.

Just wanted to note that yesterday, when I was making my run at a sweep of the forum, I also updated my mana. I checked to see who I had given mana to in the past and looked at all the new members to see if there were others I wanted to add to my list. Not a bad idea, as sometimes you might think giving it is a good idea and other times you might decide otherwise!!! You can only give another member mana once, although you can take it away and then give it back....

This is from our server:
3.2. What is Mana?
WowBB uses an advanced iterative algorithm to determine the most respected users. A user "adds mana" to other users she respects, and the more mana she has, the more the increase in recipients' manas. A user can also change her mind, and remove mana from someone to whom she added mana before. However, the more members a member adds mana to, the less the effect of those mana additions.

For example, let's assume that your mana is 3 out of 4. If you want to add mana to someone then you basically add him/her 3 points divided by the number of members to whom you added mana before. If you added mana to one member before, the amount of mana you would add is 3/(1+1)=1.5 points. This is a dynamic process. Whenever someone adds or removes mana, the manas of all members are calculated from scratch.

Finally, mana takes the normal distribution rule into account, and it gets increasingly accurate as you get more members.

60% chance of wintery mix tomorrow with a high of 32. Closest we been to the "S" word all winter. Macca and Cracker I expect to see the penguin dance in the parking lot at Town Hall today or we might blame you if the event doesn't happen.

Rather than befuddle ya'll with my crazy talk about political perception and reality, I am going to run down to the Diner for a cup of coffee and an informal poll of what the locals is thinking. Of course, the Feed Mill or the Old Mill or some other noted gathering place will work just as well for the pollsters amongst us. It never ceases to amaze me when I shut up and start listening.

Brrrrrrrr!  I got the chilblains goin' on here or somethin'!  Maybe it's the kibes or whatever Jim was talkin' about!  All I know is it is C-O-L-D out there and I can't feel my toes!  Can't wait to get myself acclimated again!  Woo Hoo!  Winter is here!!!!!!! :D:D:D:D

How about ya'll being careful to say the "SN" word instead of the "S" word so that Jack Frost doesn't make a mistake and send us a bunch of that "SL" word! (sleet!)

Cracker's gonna be doing the Happy Dance of Joy if we get Snow!!!!  Emily, what does she know, Byrd said the "SL" word this morning followed by the most dreaded phrase in the English language "changing over to rain in the afternoon".  I'm not even gonna get out of the bed tomorrow!!!!!  :X:X:X

Then she showed a map of what the weather's gonna be like tomorrow and everything SOUTH of us was pink meaning that they are likely to get SN instead of SL which really gripes my gravy.

What?  Are we in some kind of heat bubble or something?  Everybody around us is having all of this wonderfully horrific winter weather and we got nothin!  Arrrrrrgggghhhhhhhhh!

Oh yea.... good morning! :D

Jim Carville, the political consultant who used to be Bill Clinton's campaign strategist used to say, that if you really wanted to know how voters felt about issues or an upcoming election, you only had to walk around a Walmart and ask people their views on political issues or elections of the day. You're more likely to get a more in-depth view into people's thoughts and feelings by doing this, and less surprised than the pundits and public at large when trends in thinking become actionable in voting booths later on. I agree with Carville, but think his theory works just as well at the local watering holes and eateries and gathering places where people are more likely to take the time to share their innermost ideas, fears and dreams. It's also referred to it as keeping an ear close to the ground.
