I was having fun outside these forum walls.
Hey! Everybody's been tellin' us that it's too early to decorate for Christmas but tonight I was crusin' downtown Madison and they've got all their store windows decorated and lookin' all Christmasy!!!
They are evidently doin' some kind of "lookin' at the lights" festival but I didn't get the date/time off of the sign. We didn't go back out that way cause I have to hit the SuperWalmart on the way home......
Mike, do you know anything about that festival in Madison???
Wish our town did some kind of community event like that for Christmas.....

Cracker-Summerfield is doing the Christmas ligting but I have forgotten when. We don't have much of a old town area so it would be hard to do what Madison is doing.
Morning everybody. It is gorgeous outside. already been out to talk to the chickens this morning.

Mornin' everybody!
Summerfield's Tree Lighting is next Saturday (18th) at Town Hall. Not sure of the time. It's a nice reception usually, but Jane's right, it's nothing like what they are doing in Madison.

We also have a dozen young Guineas living with the chickens right now so the chickens don't get to say anything Cracker. Guineas are the noisiest, dumbest critters on this earth. They are excellent bug catchers and watch dogs so we keep them to help keep down the fly population but man they are noisy.

Thanks Macca for the update. Town Council is Tuesday night and I expect they will announce the Tree lighting then too. Usually starts around 5:30 and the tree lighting is 6 or so. Always fun and we been lucky over the years to have mostly nice weather for it.

The Summerfield Youth Council always does an excellent job with the tree lighting. They have some entertainment before they light the tree, and they always have excellent refreshments!! This group really works hard at lots of stuff.
The tree lighting is Nov. 18 at 6:30 at the town hall. Miss NC is going to light the tree. Everybody come!!
Oak Ridge and Stokesdale have their tree lightings the next weekend.
And Stokesdale is having a nice Veterans Day ceremony at their Veterans monument on Hwy. 150 (beside Vulcan Materials) today at 2 p.m. Last year's ceremony was very moving, and it's a great way to honor all the veterans.

Just make sure you're not spiking the punch, Pappy. This is a family event, you know!
I'd say I'd be keeping an eye on you, but I don't know who do look for. Will you be wearing a pink carnation? Or will you be the guy in the Santa hat dancing a jig and doing the coot salute?

Why Sandra, I'm wounded that you would think I'd spike the punch at a family affair. OK, I'm over it now. Hee hee!
Pappy ain't picked out my tree lightin' ensemble yet, so I cain't tell you what I'll be wearin', but if you see a feller that looks like a down home combination o' Gabby Hayes, Andy Devine, Richard Boone, and/or Clayton Moore, keep an eye on him.
An' while you're watchin' him, Pappy'll be over at the refreshment area. Hee hee!

Okay, here's a technical question for you techno-geeks and computer nerds out there (Don't anybody get insulted, because I mean those terms lovingly. I wish I had a little bit more of those genes in my body.) Since you guys are always talking about Firefox or Foxfire or whatever, you can probably answer this.
Anyway, sometimes the avatars of you guys do funny little things and sometimes they don't. For example, it took me forever to know that Monty was jumping up and down (I saw him on somebody else's computer). In the last few days Cracker's Rudolph's nose has started blinking, Pappy is tipping his Santa hat, Macca's heart is beating inside that pretty wreath and Jim's candy cane is doing something weird (not quite sure how to describe it). Just now, I looked and Jane's little scuba avatar was blowing air bubbles out the top.
But here's the weird thing -- they only do this fancy stuff from time to time. Sometimes a couple of them will be doing something, sometimes only one will. Most of the time, none of them are doing anything.
Can anybody explain?

Sandra-
Too much of Pappy's white lightening might explain your problem.
Just kidding!! I don't have a clue everything is jumping, jerking, undulating and bubbling on my screen.

No clue.
What browser are you using? Internet Explorer? I don't know why I'm asking that, but maybe it will be helpful to someone else.

I knew if I waited long enough a good stiff breeze would come along and rake my leaves up fer me. Nature's leaf blower in action.
