Steve,  Why did you close the CC forum?  I really want to discuss that FOIA article that Sandra wrote and that's the perfect venue I'm thinkin'.

It was only 28 pages long.  Can you put that one in closed forums and not delete it forever???

Should we start a new one?

It's funny the thangs you find out on the way to look up somethin' else. I never knowed ol' Hoss Cartwright's real name on the show was Eric Haas Cartwright.

Whatever his real name was, Hoss was always Pappy's hero!

Sorry I left ya hangin' Pappy!  I had to go and track down one of the youngun's....

I liked ol' Hoss too!  He was the most tenderhearted of Ben's youngun's for sure!  That little Joe was somethin' else too!!

He'd pretty much grown out of that wild streak by the time he married Carolyn Ingalls though......

:D

Hi MAANiacs!

I'm sorry it has taken so long to say thanks, but all I did on November 8 was sleep! I went out on that rainy election night, after the results were in, and stayed out until 5am collecting my yard signs.

I'm glad ol' Jim Flynt was asleep, lest he thought I was a thief and shoot me!:)

Folks, I am very proud to have been a candidate for our district and to have the support of many who participate in MAAN. Of course I wish the results would have went the other way, but I can live with nearly 40% on my first try!

I had the opportunity to get to know our district better and the district had an opportunity to get to know me. After all, I did sort of come out of nowhere and before February I was just another concerned citizen and still continue to be.

I was hoping to be the 'education commissioner'. But since I can't be, I hope that one of our sitting commissioners will take the charge and take care of our children and our future.

I congratulated my opponent on her victory and offered my prayers for her husband, who I understand is in the hospital. I hope he improves and wish the Shaw family all the best.

Take a good look at that handsome avatar of me (whatever the heck 'avatar' is supposed to mean). I'd like to change it to something else. Any suggestions? I did like the Batman 'commissioner', but I guess we'll have to think of something else. In fact, I'd like to re-enter this forum incognito. I'll have to think a bit about that too! You'll know who I am when I reappear!

Where will I go from here? To school!! I will be pursuing a college degree over the next few years, hopefully at Guilford College. I was accepted there just before this election cycle, but put it off due to a job change last year and then the election.

I will stay involved where I can. I wish I could be more involved in local politics, but I live in unincorporated Guilford County. I will stay involved where I can.  And as for the yard signs...I DID NOT THROW THEM AWAY!;)

This weekend is Veteran's Day weekend. Thank a vet when you get a chance. And...for the Marine you may know, or know of, Friday November 10 is the Marine Corps birthday...231 years old! (Older than our nation!)

Thanks to all the vets and thanks to all the patriots who vote!

Ray, none of us knows what avatar means either! No worries!

I like the commissioner idea!

You could say.. "I'm not a commissioner (yet), but I play one on the forum!" ;)

TGIF

Ray good luck on your school adventure. I went to nursing school later on in life when all my children were also in college. It was great to use my brain and to learn things just for the sake of learning. We are so lucky in NC and Guilford County to have a really good Community College system for us non traditional students. (That's what they call you when you are over 25! Much better than older I always thought)

Anyway a busy day for me. You all don't have to much fun while I am gone.

Well, Crackah, Jane told us not to have too much fun while she was gone, so we didn't.

Pappy needs more beauty sleep. That last batch didn't take.
