Welcome! Bullwinkle's Corner is lounging on the beach with a good book, or a white-knuckle ride through an asteroid field in a "best movie of the year so far" video, or sitting on a blanket drinking Lynchburg Lemonade and listening to live Blue Grass outside, or even a moving car window framing a serendipitous yard art moment.
Anything from the "A-Team" to "Zen and the Art of Motorcyle Maintenance" is fair game in Bullwinkle's Corner, as well as any of the people and characters that contribute to our definition of culture; Alfred Hitchcock, Jethro Tull, Dee Brown, Yosemite Sam, Paul Cezanne, Dirk Pitt, Morgan Freeman...you know, that sort of thing.
Note: Pappy cain't stand too much culture at once, though. Pappy has to carefully maintain proper balance by alternatin' culture experiences with doin' somethin' manly like bush hoggin' a briar patch full o' big rocks and bob wire. And, sorry, no books with Fabio Pappy on the cover allowed. It's part of the deal his agent made.
So, read any good books lately? Seen any good movies?

Wow Pappy! Love what you've done with the place!
Gone and added some real class to the joint....
I'll wait to see what the folks who hang out here have to say...
(Specially since you aren't allowing those trashy romances with Fabio Pappy on the cover...)
It's a little scary jumping in here... Let's say I was to say I saw the Latest Harry Potter Movie and loved it or I'm REALLY disappointed in Heath Ledger's latest choice of movie scripts.... Just doesn't fit with the Heath Ledger theme he had going...You know-from medeivel knight to Irish bandit...now he's a .........cowboy.
I mean, if you were to jump in here and say something like that you'd leave yourself open to all sorts of abuse....
Now, if ya'll start chatting up the Broadway Shows, Don't be surprised if I break out in song! Love me some show tunes!!!

No Heath Ledger. Nuh-uh. He can do what he wants, just keep that tent flap closed.
OK, I'm gonna have to go start up a chain saw or watch some football for a bit.

I don't know why I thought of it, but does anybody remember that old TV show "Then Came Bronson" starring Michael Parks? The guy who just took off on a Harley one day and bummed around the country? They used to show reruns Sunday afternoons on the Bob Gordon Show.

Welcome Bama! Is Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World part of that series? I really enjoyed that movie.

OK, Bama, I did:
the Aubrey–Maturin series, also known as the Aubreyad, is a sequence of 20
historical novels by Patrick O'Brian, set during the Napoleonic Wars and ...
hmmmm....

I read "S is for Silence" the latest Sue Grafton series. (For those of you who don't know, I won't make you look it up....She started with "A is for Alibi" and has worked thru the alphabet now to "S". There is a female private eye, Kinsey Millhone, who is very human, humorous... The whole series has been consistently good. Once I start reading, I pretty much read it all the way thru. I didn't start with "A" because I didn't discover the series right away, but have since read them all, I think. Now I ask for the hardback as either a birthday or Christmas present when they come out, which is about every 2 years. The timespan of the books, which is set in the 1980s, is much less than that, though.) Grafton does a lot of research for the books, which tend to be set in and around the small town of Santa Teresa, California. The books are only about 350-400 pages each and are an easy read. (There really is no Santa Teresa, so don't look it up.)♥♥♥

OK, Pappy! Jethro Tull??!! "Sitting on a park bench....." Aqualung rules!
What about Rocky and Bullwinkle? "Nothin' up my sleeve...."
Hitchcock? Wow! So many choices: "North by Northwest" "Vertigo" "Rear Window" My brain can't even wrap around them all right now....
I love movies but don't see a lot of the newer ones until they've been around for a while. Love those old classics though. Give me the original "Sunset Boulevard" and "Gaslight" any time! ♥♥♥

Macca, you're OK!
Pappy loves a good detective novel. One of my favorites is Robert B. Parker's "Spenser" series. The books are much better in my opinion than the TV series a few years ago. The plots aren't all that complicated, but it's the inter-relationships of the characters that makes it good. Spenser and Hawk engage in much more subtle and witty reparte in the books and they're both more hard-edged.

YES I remember the show well, and strangely have been asking people about the same show in the past few months. No one seemed to remember it..........I couldn't wait for that show to come on. I've got a Harley, keep dreaming about doin's what he did. GREAT SHOW !!!! Wish it would re-run now.

If Pappy likes detective or lawyer authors he might want to try David Baldacci. The first (several years old but best seller) was "Absolute Power" and was one to make Pappy sit right up on the edge of the sofa.

Just came in from the play "Chicago". It was OK but not one I would break a leg to see again. Kind long and boring. Anyone else have a comment?

I enjoyed the "Spenser" TV series, so should try the books...
Steve, I saw "Chicago" the movie, and loved it. Have seen some Broadway productions here ("Cats" twice, several years apart) that have been good....
I also enjoy the Grisham books....
Also thought of another Hitchcock film I like -- "Notorious"
gotta go.... game's back on....

Steve, I have a hard time finding anybody who remembers that show. I always loved the intro where the guy stuck in traffic looks over and asks where he's headed and Bronson says, "Wherever I end up, I guess."
Starcatchr, I read one of Baldacci's books at the beach once called "Saving Faith" I think. Pappy liked. They were running from somebody and hid out for a while in Duck, North Carolina. He's on my list when I go to Edward McKay's.
Speaking of Hitchcock, I recently saw "Psycho" on TV and when Anthony Perkins dresses up as the old woman and darts about, it reminds me of somebody I've seen darting about at a town council meeting. Can't put my finger on who it is...
