Steve, If your grits taste like sand, cook 'em longer! YUMMY!!!
I see that Blessings eats grits with butter, salt and pepper. I like them with butter and sugar myself. (no splenda either !) There really is no right and wrong way to eat grits in the south (as long as you're eatin' 'em!), cause the polls I've taken (salt vs. sugar) come out about 50/50.
CRACKAH! You know how I hate to challenge you, but I'VE LIVED HERE ALL MY LIFE AND I'VE NEVER HEARD OF EATING GRITS WITH SUGAR!!!
'Course, I like Cream of Wheat with sugar -- Is it kinda like that?♥♥♥

I have learned biscuits can be eaten more often than on Sundays and not only with breakfast, and I quite enjoy this!
OK they sell them in a bag, but don't tell anyone, my son thinks that they are homemade.....
reminds me of a story.......
I worked with a great bunch of folks from Maine on a construction job... the Proj Mgr was from Dixfield, ME.... nicest guy & loved southern cookin ('cept for the grits)
One night I had cooked a big supper and made too many biscuits so I brought them in to work (those folks could polish off any type of cookin... no matter what!) Anyway, he said.... "those biscuits are the BEST ever! Did you make them from scratch?"
to which I replied.... "I mighta scratched the bag when I took them outta the freezer!"
That is one indication of how "homemade" they taste.... thus why I also recorded how to make the scratch kind for the youngins... not many folks do that anymore when you can buy them from the freezer section....

Good Morning Everyone!
Macca, I tried quoting your grit posting but couldn't for some reason. Anyway, I never in my life heard of eatin' grits with salt and pepper til I was in my 20's! (a couple of years ago!! )
