The Green Door used to be a skating rink? How long ago was that? I have wondered about that building ever since I moved to the area. Just out of curiousity, does anyone have any other information about that property - who built it, when did the rink shut down, what is it used for now, etc...? Thanks.
Hey, Gang! Could someone who knows the answer to this give us the answers???? I don't know any of this... I just knew the one little tidbit about it being a skating rink -- remembered reading it in the NW Observer one time. There was probably other info as well, but that's all that stuck with me. Sorry! Thanks!!!!♥♥♥

Thanks for reminding me to look this one up Macca.... I looked in Ms. Scarlette's book and didn't find much that hasn't been written here. She states that it was opened as a skating rink shortly after WWII and later operated as a recreation center and a place for young people to dance. The name was changed to "The Green Door" when it was operated by William Belton, but it doesn't say what the business was that Mr. Belton operated. The sign on the front (in the photo) says "The Green Door Curb Service."
Now I'm curious..... I'm PMing Sandra....

Hey, Macca, I saw a guy in a pickup truck this mornin' an' I swear he looked EXACTLY like Paul McCartney. It was plumb weird!
That was the weirdest thang. One o' them what they call surreal moments. This was about 7:30 in the mornin' last week I reckon. Pappy was settin' at the light at Westover Terrace, fightin' the steerin' wheel to keep from automatically turnin' in to the IHOP, when right through the intersection, headin' toward town, here he comes. I don't remember the truck much except it weren't new but weren't old. He had the winder rolled down, breeze a-blowin' his hair (plural) not two car lengths away as he passed by. Pappy got a good look at him in profile an' if that wasn't him, it was about as close as you can get without surgery. Same age, same profile, same hair...
Keep yer eyes peeled, Macca. Maybe ol' Paul bought him some real estate aroun' here, like ever'body else! Wonder if he was listenin' to oldies on the radio? Hee hee!
