Wasn't it all just so nice??? We were there this morning, but I haven't gotten a call telling me to come and pick up my basket, so I guess I didn't win either! Glad you came out, CRACKAH!!! Did your little ones ride all those big ole rides (Velcro Wall, Bungee Run, Moonwalk, etc?) My little princesses just loved them all! And they even won a cake on the cake walk! Of course, we had to have lunch before we left..... Hot dogs and burgers fresh from the grill.... $1 for a hot dog and $2 for a burger!! Ummmm good. Then over to the bake sale for a 50 cent brownie. Of course, the highlight of their day was to see their teacher get a bucket of cold water dumped on her!!! (Those poor teachers squealed loud! The shock of the cold water seemed to take their breath away!) Everybody seemed to have a great time! PTA did a great job, Vicki! ♥♥♥

Sounds like y'all had a good time! Pappy's ol' truck automatically veered right toward the winery 'stead o' left toward the school. Pappy fought it the whole way an' eventually ended up at Edwardo McKay's. They've moved into their new digs. Pappy likes!

Well, as with most PTA events, it takes a lot of work, and most of it by a few people. We have a great committee and the husband of the chair brings this super nice cooker he has and cooks for us. We were able to get Cadets from ORMA to help out. A local gentleman just built us our very own "flusher" and we had some new teachers who volunteered to get "flushed." (The veterans said they had paid their dues and the new ones just didn't know any better!) -- Not really! They said they enjoyed it even though it was cold and wet!!! Some of them even challenged each other to see who could get flushed the most! They helped us a lot!

Uh oh Pappy... I gave wepete directions to Edward Mckay's OLD location... Where's the new one again???  Macca will remember I'm sure.  It'll save me looking it up on the forum pages.

That flusher was cool Vicki.... I was trying to get up close to check out the mechanics of it.

Ritz Bits had a nice cadet help her do some digging for treasure.  She loved the plastic bugs and stuff that she found.  What a cool (simple) idea!

Macca... I'm sorry I missed you.... Not that I would have known you.  Luckily Vicki was wearing a V-W-L nametag so I could hunt her down.  I doubt you were wearing a Macca one!

OH!  I met Denise, the new lady who works for the NWO.  I won't attempt her last name.  She's very nice.

Did you do the wine tasting out at the Farmer's market Pappy???  How was it? I heard it cost a pretty penny to partake.

And when the sun is out
I've got something I can laugh about....

CRACKAH, McKay's will be a LOT easier to get to now -- and parking will be a lot better too! The new site (thanks for reminding us they have moved, PAPPY!! ♥♥♥) is on Battleground, just around the corner from where they were. I think it was formerly some kind of building materials store(?). It's right there near (maybe beside) Ghassan's, where you can stop for a delicious sandwich before or after getting your books!!! (I hope wepete sees this!!!)♥♥♥

CRACKAH! You caught me! I think those nametags were for the folks volunteering, and I didn't do that --- Sorry, Vicki! Maybe I can do that next time..... ♥♥♥

Maybe next time I'll just make up my own and make people wonder why in the world my nametag says ♥♥♥!

oh yea... what's the status on your move wepete?  I thought you said your house hasn't sold yet.  You just gonna up an' leave us anyway?

Not completely.  Our other places are mostly finished and we have the certificates of occupancy for both. Now, we'll be fixing this house up and will keep it as our primary residence until it sells,  But, with a working farm and Donna's new job we will also spend time in new places.  Before the election I figured everything would take about a year.  That still seems about right.  BTW... thanks for the update on the book store.  I knew they were moving just not when or from where. (Pappy...let me know if you change your mind)

Wow! Some folks are up early even on Sundays, huh?

Macca, If I knew who you were I'd write your name down as a volunteer to pursue!! (Lucky you!)

Kris, I really came on here to tell you how much mileage I've gotten out of your "Darn Good Chocolate Cake!" Since you gave us the recipe, I know I've made at least 6 of them, the most recent this morning! I've taken it twice to Scott's daughter's home (once for her birthday and then at Easter), for my niece's birthday in February, for my OM team for our end of year celebration and at least once just for us! My nephew's birthday is today and he asked my mom to see if I'd bring it for the family party for him! When I introduced you to my family at the band fundraiser (Carrabba's) I didn't remember to mention that you were the one who gave us the recipe for the cake. If I had, they would've let you know how very much they appreciate it! Even the ones who CLAIM not to like chocolate (SCOTT!) really like it. I use semi-sweet chocolate chips and try to also use Devil's food pudding mix. Another tip: I read somewhere to use cake flour when the recipe calls for flouring the pan. I've started using a little of the cake mix for that -- then you don't get the white flour look on the cake. THANKS AGAIN, Kris! I think of you now every time I make it or someone mentions it. I always give a copy of the recipe when I take the cake, because I know they're going to want it again!

Mornin', y'all!

Yeah, Macca, Edward McKay's is right around the corner on Battleground right beside Ghassan's. Two of Pappy's favorites! Food fer the brain an' food fer t'other 99 percent o' Pappy! Hee hee! Their parkin' lot has more spaces, but it's still tight. Inside is much, much nicer, and it still has that ecclectic, looks-like-somethin'-Pappy-would-build-in-the-garage kind o' reality ambiance to it. Pappy always feels right at home!

Vicki, don't be talkin' 'bout no chocolate cake, less'n you brung enough fer ever'body! Well, actually, I meant enough fer ever'body AND me. Hee hee!

Didn't make it to the Farmer's Market wine tastin', Crackah. Pappy mostly does his wine tastin' on the Texas deck. No cover charge, no dress code, no designated driver.

Good luck out yonder on the open market, wepete. My timeline fer winnin' the lottery is also sometime this year. So far, I'm gettin' good at recognizin' losin' tickets. Phase 2 is larnin' to recognize a winnin' ticket.
