Ok...Ever since Pappy threw that Folderol word about, I figured I might oughta work on my vocab skills a little so I subscribed to this word of the day thing that Merriam Webster sends out.... Isn't that nice of her???

Here are a couple of the latest ZINGERS I recieved....

hyperborean   \hye-per-BOR-ee-un\   adjective
*1 : of or relating to an extreme northern region : frozen
2 : of or relating to any of the arctic peoples

Example sentence:
Pauline's hyperborean relatives (she still has cousins in Canada) don't know what to make of her preference for the tropics.

Now, I don't know about ya'll, but my relatives might take offense to my calling them hyperborean.....They'd think I was name callin'

 sequacious   \sih-KWAY-shus\   adjective
     : intellectually servile
Example sentence:
Ronald was disappointed that his students presented only sequacious arguments in their term papers and that few offered any original ideas.

I swear I am gonna use this one over on the CC forum if I can remember it!!! Pappy, would you store this word for me til I need it???

HAHA. I think its Friday today. At least for some of us. Too bad I'm not still in college, I would've been out for a few weeks now.

That is a pic of a Bama player on my avatar. However, the skins are ok. Dan Snider is a schmuck though. Couldnt believe my eyes the other day when they won 35-7. I think there are times in years past when they didnt score 35 points all season.

P.S. ->hitting the coffee early this morning. not decaf.

Pappy likes the vocabulary idea. Sequacious is a good one, I think. Very applicable to the cc's "Mother Ship and Drone" philosophy.

Might want to throw in some Mark Twain quotes for fun, too.

"In the first place, God made idiots. That was for practice. Then he made school boards."

Pappy's gotta get to work, now. Folderol ain't in Pappy's clients' vocabulary.
:(

HOLY COW.............y'all are definitely in the Christmas spirit (oops, I said Christmas, maybe I should have said "non-denominational-function spirit??)

The Spanish term for the weather down here is "el slop-o".

Welcome to the new players !!!!!!!!!!!!

I am trying to up load this ugly goblin face for my AVATAR and now that I have its size reduced enough, it's giving me a message that says "Sorry, only GIF, JPG or PNG file uploads are allowed" The pic is in a Gif format. and was in a Jpg format but neither works for me. Anybody know whats up with that?

Ozzy...uh I mean Ponder...

Are you trying to upload an animated gif perhaps? I had to "un-animate" my little tree to get it to upload... Other than that, If you are sure it is a small enough file, I have no clue.

Maybe Bama will check in tomorrow and shed some light on the subject....he/she's all smart on that kind of thing....

No... its not animated. I can't figure it out. I'm tired of my spruce tree avatar. I wish there weren’t as much of a size constraint on the avatar and you could up load a small photo on it.

Ponderapond,
I had the same problem trying to download an avatar, but I'm so technically challenged that I just figured it's me! I found several I liked but couldn't get them for one reason or another. Some too large, some I just couldn't figure out b/c of stipulations as to how they could be downloaded.... and some were in motion and I couldn't figure out how to "freeze" them.

Anyhoo, I'm looking for a new one, so I'd be interested in any tips as to how to download avatars! I was actually looking for a BEETLE, not a ladybug..... Would also consider other interesting alternatives.

You know, I think we're gaining on the CC site, but then I realize we are behind by 800 hits... Of course that is great considering how long their site has been up compared to ours... And we have more than twice as many postings!

Well, last night I couldn't see Ponder's goblin, but today I can and I think the problem is that it is too U-G-L-Y for the playground! You need me to go look for a beautiful picture for ya??? I am afraid you are gonnna scare the kiddies with that hideous thing! LOL

Ponder I have a little resizing program my brother gave me that would not get the picture small enough.  I had to use MS Office Picture manager and define the size that I wanted the picture to be. (64x64 for avatars)

Euson... whenever you get time, carry yourself on over to RR and tell me what in the heck Bama was talking about k? No rush.

macca.... we're gonna catch those clickers on the cc forum, don't you worry!

See if you can get the attachment to work Ponder.  I resized it.

macca... I noticed we had 4444 hits this morning.  Cool number.

Oh didn't want to forget our lesson for today.....

merriam's word of the day is

solatium   \so-LAY-shee-um\   noun
: a compensation (as money) given as solace for suffering, loss, or injured feelings

Example sentence:
The judge awarded a substantial solatium to all of the bus passengers who were traumatized as a result of the accident.

Crackah's would have used this word....Payoff

Crackuh! I didn't notice at first that you changed your avatar! I know you said you'd get a new one after the holidays, but you went ahead now!

As I said, I'm in the market for a new one.....

Enjoying the learning opportunities along with all the fun on the playground....

We gotta keep clicking, clicking, clicking (think "Rolling, rolling, rolling....") How's that for another tune stuck in your head?

Also, try checking other forums/message boards and stealing other people's avatars. That is how I got mine. Its too much work to resize, etc. I will see what I can do for the goblin thing.
