Before I leave town, I have one final mission for my friends in M.A.A.N.  Y'all remember that song from way back with the happy jingle?

Those  were the days my friend

We thought they'd never end

We'd sing & dance, forever & a day

Remember that one?????

Now that you have the song going in your heads..............it has nothing to do with anything we've talked about in this forum!!!!!!

I just wanted to give you something to remember me by the rest of the weekend.

Monty & I are off, I'll holler at you from down there.

Those were the days my friend...................................

Cracker- Go to the Dollar store buy one of those big bags of name stickers then you just slap one that is bigger over the one already there. Now sometimes if the bag has been "regifted" several times as happens in this family you might have to peel some of the excess stickers off carefully. We have several bags in this family that are probably 10 years old that keep reappearing.

Yes, Steve...thanks! I think...

That song was sung by Mary Hopkins. She was "discovered" by Paul McCartney, who produced the record and played acoustic guitar on it.

Thanks, everyone, for asking about my nephew! I spoke with his wife last night. (Yes, he's old enough to be married. Actually he turned 30 this year. Holds a very responsible position as warehouse manager/shipping clerk for his company. In fact, he insisted on going on to work after his accident b/c he's evidently the only one who knows anything about what he does. They had him show them/explain things to him and then made him go home...) In other ways, he's just a big kid. :) Which is fine. Anyway, that day he had forgotten his coat, so was outside (directing traffic, remember?) for maybe an hour and a half. On top of that, he has picked up a stomach bug from his 5 year-old-daughter, but seems to have no ill effects from the accident.

Have a good trip, Steve!

Ahhh thanks for the tip Jane! The problem with that system is, eventually, won't you just be passing a big old gift tag around with a bag hidden somewhere underneath??

I still think it would be much easier if folks would use the little cardboard tags and a piece of removable tape!

We too have seen the same gift bags for years in my family, in fact, if we like one a lot, we say, "I'd better get this one back next year!"

I do think you've given Euson an idea for her next column though....REGIFTING!!!  Euson, what do you have to say about that subject?

Thank you for the warm welcome. (How come I didn't get one of those little welcome signs like somebody gave Jane back on one of the earlier pages? That's okay -- in the spirit of the season and this forum, I was going to give myself one, but being technologically challenged, I can't figure out how!)

I have a suggestion of what we could do in Oak Ridge, since the discussion of tacky yard art has been previously held. What if we went down there and put a toilet right in one of those islands in the 68/150 intersection. To make it festive, we could even put some fake plastic poinsettias sprouting right out of the bowl and write a nice "Welcome to Oak Ridge" message (maybe a new use for those used gift bags that have several stickers on them already and have outlived their purpose).

I think that would definitely get the sign police/mayor in Oak Ridge stirred up if nothing else.

When I think of it, there are more and more uses for the intersection toilet. Maybe that little Monty thingy (insert Monty thingy here) should be peeking out of the top of the tank. In spring, we could pull out the poinsettias and stick in some nice plastic daffodils and maybe throw a few plastic Easter eggs around on the ground. Around July 4th, we could stick a bunch of American flags in there. (I had thought about a fireworks show in which we could throw some M-80s in there for the finale, but that might be the end of our yard art.)

Can anybody out there crochet a nice cover for other times of the year? Maybe we could make our toilet decoration like one of those little geese people have in their yard that they decorate for the different seasons/holidays.

WELCOME TO THE PLAYGROUND ZIPPY!

I decided, after those last two postings, that you "ain't right!" Meaning you fit right in with this bunch and so deserve that welcome Jane got if you want it!

This thing finally let me edit I think.... I just removed that Junk email about men giftwrapping things that look like big old wrinkly softballs...... Looks a little better now I think.

Welcome home, Zippy!
Pappy cain't do all them fancy things with type and such. You might not have been able to see it, but the Crackah had a big ol' neon Welcome sign for you a few posts back yonder. Sometimes graphics show up and sometimes they don't.

That's okay, Cracker! Of course, paranoid that I am, I've tried all kinds of ways to figure out what those inserts were, SINCE I COULDN'T SEE THEM!!!

It was still a cute story....

They weren't inserts macca.... Believe it or not, there were no smilies in that posting... Those funky things inserted were just the commands for changing colors and fonts....

In other words, I was just trying to change the size and colors to make it smaller and that junk was inserted instead. You didn't miss anything!

Sorry for the mess!
