Visited the State Fair This week. You see some interesting things at a fair , people walking around having to hold their pants up with one hand, the low rider jeans and short shirts that not everyone can pull that look off but everyone tries and then there are the carnies.

Was listening to a Jeff Foxworthy CD today.

He had one section on "if yooooooou think your family is a little off the charts, then all you have to do is go visit a state fair.   After walking around for awhile and seeing the other families, you will start thinking "we're all right after all"

Then "look at the hair on the back of that man..............oooh, that's a woman, and it's Aunt Betty".

Just wanted to say that, while I haven't seen either of them, I've heard that both "Flags of Our Fathers" (about the battle of Iwo Jima) and "The Prestige" (the one about magicians at the turn of the century) are great movies. The acting, directing and stories have all been given rave reviews. Both opened this weekend..... ♥♥♥

I finally saw "The Guardian" last night.

If you liked "An Officer and a Gentleman" or "Armageddon" you'll like this one.

Interesting thing to look for..... Periodically throughout the entire movie you could see the microphone hovering over the heads of the actors and bobbing in and out of the shot.  I thought that was a little bit hokey but other than that, it was an ok flick.

I don't know much about "The Guardian." Was the microphone part of the movie, I mean, was it supposed to be visible? If not, why didn't they edit it out?:shock::shock: ♥♥♥

It's a movie about the Coast Guard.  Kevin Costner was the seasoned Coast Guard guy (like Louis Gossett Jr. in an Officer and a Gentleman) and Ashton Kutcher (Richard Gere) was the smart alec guy training to be in the Coast Guard.

The microphone was not supposed to be there! Costner and Kutcher would be "having a moment" discussing their history or something and there that mic would be bobbing over their heads.

No telling what I missed cause I was watchin' for the mic. :D

I couldn't believe they didn't crop it out.  Surely they will before it hits DVD.

Some of the ocean shots were unbelievable.  Makes you want to keep your feet on dry land!!!

Don't know if we're supposed to talk about books here..........aw heck yeah, ya'll talked about the DaVinci Code awhile back.

Since my kids in college now, I'm reading one of her books "The Riddle of the Amish Culture" by Donald B Kraybill.

Thought it was going to be boring, but I'm finding it to be fascinating and very well written.  Explains all the stuff I never understood about the Amish.  Written by a guy who lived in Lancaster Pa, and had ready access to Amish for input.

Interesting parallel went thru my head...........the Amish communities never run into situations like Summerfield is experienced with fringe groups like Concerned Citizens and grandstanding TC members like Strickland.  Just doesn't happen.

Course then, in my career field.......I couldn't imagine receiving church discipline for flying in airplane either.   Though, it might be fun to back the horse up in the parking lot to a shiny new vehicle (convertible?) and let it...............never mind.
