Well, interesting..... I read what Ms. Ahearn wrote and found it amusing but didn't really read anything into it......

In another lifetime, I must have met her just after she began working for the N&R..... It was before they just had her write fluff pieces.... She came to cover an event put on by the company I worked for and she seemed like a real airhead..... Like she didn't have a clue..... Everybody commented on it at the time...... I have to confess I didn't read any of Bledsoe's stuff about the police dept., so I didn't know what his opinion was ..... hmmmmm...:?

In another lifetime, I also once was a member of a private club in downtown Greensboro where Bledsoe, Swofford, Schlosser, Barkley and other GND writers/reporters hung out late afternoons. I knew them then, shared a few beers, but then haven't seen them in years since except infrequently. They were all decent up-n-coming professional hacks.

Bledsoe basically wrote about Ahern along the lines of what your own observations about her were. I have several other friends who worked at the GN&R who have concurred with the assessment which both you and Bledsoe have presented.

As a footnote, I have enjoyed Bledsoe's articles about the Greensboro Police Department scandals yet found them quite disturbing. His several books on local sensational crimes were quite outstanding as well.

I don't think GDN has ever gotten another columnist who could write as good a human interest column as Jerry use to write. I also enjoyed his books. Knew the family where the son was the youngest person on death row. They killed the other boys father I believe in Wilmington maybe. Of course I was looking out the window at Dr. Kaplan's  when the Bronco with Klenner, Lynch and the two boys came speeding by followed by the city police and the sheriff deputy. I remember going next door and asking the pharmacist what in the world was going on. We heard the Bronco blow up on 150.  He did a good job on writing that story too. I read a couple of the articles he wrote in the Rhino on the police department but I just never know what to believe in the Rhino so don't read it very often.

(I thought this would be a good place to post that. I'm not speaking of anybody in particular, but if the shoe fits, wear it!:D)

Morning All! Is it Monday again. Seems like yesterday was Monday. Boy are my ankles cranky from all the walking I did this week end.  It is warm and humid this morning. I saw a couple of stars trying to peep through the clouds so maybe we will see some sun today. Can't wait for the Oak Ridge horse show on Friday and Saturday. Typical weather Cold and blustery.

Everybody have an outstanding day!!!
