Welcome back Macca.......WE MISSED YOU !!!!!

YAWNNNNNNNN.........ooh, I had kind of a rough night last night.

did anybody party at the Embassy Suites last night??   good food, music, dancing, wasn't too hard to stay anonymous with the crowd & the smoke machine.   Unfortunately, those who play hard must...............recover.    I resemble that comment.

Macca, good job on the clean sweep....we seem to be gaining members in the >100 club, might need to start a clean sweep club.

Hey everyone, Happy New Years! I hope all will have a wonderful and healthy 2006.

I have the black-eyed peas cooking along with collard and piggy....yummm it smells great here. I wish we had smell-o-vision.

Great to see you back Macca and Zippity.

Steve, you just think you were anonymous! You never know when the papparazzi might jump out from behind a smoke machine, giant amplifier or mai tai to snap your photo in an unflattering light (perhaps in the Soul Train dance line or doing the Macarena?). Hope you behaved yourself!

Smell-o-vision sounds good. Wonder if the NWO computer gurus could hook us up here on this site? But Skiddles, I can think of other things I'd rather smell than collards, peas and hog cooking. Even as a native Southerner, New Year's was never my favorite meal of the year -- ugh!

BTW, I'm assuming greens, black-eyed peas (the food, not the musical group) and pork are a Southern tradition. Is that true, or do people 'round the world join us in such savory victuals? If not, what do they eat? (I'm trying to bring some culture to this topic. Any takers?)

Here is a serious subject to introduce here. I went over to visit some friends on the Stokesdale page. We were talking about underutilized businesses in Stokesdale and somebody brought up bat guano.

Does anybody over here know exactly what guano is? Is that a nice name for poop or something? Of course, I could look it up, but figured it would be easier to ask my smart Summerfield friends.

Steve, have you run across any guano in your world travels? Euson, do people crochet covers that look like little animals (I remember this conversation from a l-o-n-g t-i-m-e ago) to put on top of their guano? Jane, have you seen any guano for sale when you've been checking out ebay? I could ask somebody in Oak Ridge, but I'm pretty sure they're still dead over there.

Inquiring minds want to know....

Zippy! I'm not responding to food or bat guano.... Just wanted to set the record straight.

Euson is no more.... Shem is buried in the basem....no, uh... Shem reincarnated shemself into Lacka.... make note for your records. There will be a test later.

Too bad about those Oak Ridgers. They just don't know what fun they are missing out on by not visiting the playground.

Of course, sometimes, we do learn stuff. Maybe Merriam could tell us about guano...

Thanks for catching me up on everybody. What happened to Euson? Was s/he reincarnated as somebody else, or did s/he just move to Oak Ridge and promptly fell into a coma?

This place is sorta like a soap opera, only better. The major difference I can tell is that if you miss an "episode" or two, you can't figure out what the heck is going on here (unless you go back and watch the reruns, I mean read the previous pages). One time I missed "The Young & The Lustful" for a couple of months, and when I came back, they were still on the same story line.

Merriam says: Main Entry: gua·no
Pronunciation: 'gwä-(")nO
Function: noun
Etymology: Spanish, from Quechua wanu fertilizer, dung
: a substance composed chiefly of the excrement of seafowl and used as a fertilizer; also : a similar substance (as bat excrement or cannery waste) especially when used for fertilizer

Upon further digging (not literally, but maybe I should!), I found this, which makes me think that perhaps one of those boutiques we want to bring to Stokesdale (see "underutilized buildings...") could offer it! Bat guano: buy natural organic fertilizer for healthy plants
Bat guano: the best organic fertilizer available in the world. A universal organic fertilizer. Odourless. For fruit and vegetables, bushes and trees,

"During the Civil War the Confederate Army mined the cave for saltpeter, a commodity necessary to the manufacture of gunpowder."

from- http://www.thelostsea.com/History1.htm

So basically, I can be considered about as accurate as the internet since those were almost my exact words.

Now I will look up alternate spellings for salt petre/peter just to be sure.
