Speaking of the Yankee vs Rebel thing, this week in Toronto, someone asked me where I was from. Said North Carolina. The person said "yeah, you've got a heavy southern accent". Guess I've gotten more southernized than even I realized.
I hope you thanked them for that compliment, Steve!♥♥♥

a Southernism Story.... I talk to a guy for work a lot that is in Connecticut. I was telling him that I'd been to the cafeteria in my bldg to get grits w/sausage & a sweet tea...
he goes... "Hey! I'm drinking iced tea too!"
I said, "Yeah, but I bet yours is in a can...."
then dead silence....
then he said, "well, yeah...."
to which I had to reply... "nevermind...."
guess that is another thing you've gotta love about the south... good ol' sweet tea & grits! Yummm Yummmm! ♥♥♥ (ps... these hearts were borrowed from Macca)

My husband and I moved to Guam in the late 80's for a couple of years. I worked in Public Health and we had a blond blue eyed woman from Iceland who was the social worker. Lots of the Guamanians and Phillipinos got us mixed up because we looked just a like, both had blond hair and blue eyes and we both had such stange accents that they couldn't tell us apart or understand us. It was such a trip because of course in our minds we didn't look or sound a bit a like.
My Mother was from Mass and my Father was from Concord, NC which probably explains a lot of my psycho. I was actually born in Maine but have lived in this area all my life so have a fairly significant southern accent.

Dear it wasn't me this time,
It is true that it 1 Secret Service man is on a mission that he has multiple friends and they can all run fast. It is also true that none out of four have a sense of humor. That is all that I am allowed to say the rest is confidential.
Thanks for writing

I am not delayed in my responses if that is what you are trying to say Crackah....sometimes I have to go on location.
Although I cannot always be here I have informants that let me know when someone is in need of my services.
OK lately I have been detained by Secret Service, so I am having to play catch up but this is a circumstance that could not be avoided. And it is certainly not the norm....

Look those guys wear stiff white shirts with some kind of black patches, looked much better than the Boy Scout patches that I have tried to put on with the glue gun...... and well the shirts just don't go with my purse......so I am not getting sucked in with those guys.....
SMS and Pap, those people were not as much fun as we are, would never not come back......they didn't think it was at all funny that we didn't have an insurance card with us, did you know that an insurance card is worth 300.00 in DC? Me neither.......but it is true
I tried to tell them that the red light was just a little pink around the edges, and they didn't even smile.

I am so sorry Macca. I can take it from Crackah, but not you. We are the penglings that stick together when Crackah tells us to jump off the roof.
I promise to try to be here more often. I have been thinking about this North aon South thing and think there needs to be a Lacka spin on the topic. I was putting my toughts together while I was on location.....

Today I drove back into the USA. Waited in a traffic jam one hour long. Got a rude interrogation from a TSA agent who must think all cars have drugs in them. What an idiot !!
Anybody who is travelling internationally beware, and don't take chances on not declaring anything you bring back. The current crackdown due to the incident last week is intense.
SMS at least you drove, I flew into an air port that was the size of a postage stamp. Nobody smiled, and they wanted to know everything about why we were going there. The Lacka hubby said to just answer the questions and to not joke around with them....he knows me. I am thinking the entire time while standing at customs {how can you stand there and not crack a smile with a huge cow at the door.} The cow come to find out later was representing their ice cream......Not a friendly bunch....

Lacka Reporting from home.....
Thank goodness we have arrived back on Sounther Soil.... SMS there is no Sweet Tea in DC They haven't heard of it there.
The Littlest Lacka thought it would be fun to ask for Cheerwine in every restaurant, just to see what the waitress would say. OK it was quite comical. Most of them just looked at him, tilted their head and said, "what is Cheerwine?" Then they started with the moon pies, I don't think my lackas have ever had a moon pie, but they have certainly heard of them....and thought it was funny to ask the waitress about it....
SMS did you have potatoes while in Canada? I like them fried, boiled, baked and in salad, but have to say that I have never tasted a potato like the potatoes there. Could not argue that ours were better. UM the potatoes there are much better.
We went to Prince Edward Island and they are known for their potatoes.....yum yum
What about the MC Lobster? Yep that is what they served at McDonalds. Subway even had a lobster special.
