OK team.........round up your Moms, Dads, Grandma's Grandpas, cousins, aunts, uncles, canvass the cemeteries, stop the airliners, call the National Guard, we only got a shade less than 4,000 hits to go.
Macca.....hope you're taking your laptop on your trip !!

Click click click.
OMG must tell the most embarassing Christmas story ever. I need everyone's help.
Please Please Please help me.
UGH I could just die. So I have these friends, love them to death. We have been close friends for about a year or less. Well we have never exchanged X mas gifts, so less than a year.
With all the throw ups and what not amongst kids we have just managed to get together with them for Christmas. My sweet little husband and I thought it would be fun to get them this little Desperate Housewives trivia game.
We always either watch the show with them, or we talk about it with them. Well and they have always admired this egg slicer that we have, when we make a salad. We have dinner with them once or twice a week. OK it sounds dumb but he really liked it. So they get the stupid Desperate Housewives game that makes no sense at all, and the egg slicer. Wrap it up in pretty paper and give it to them.
They roll in with a DVD and CD cabinet that looks hand carved. Beautiful, just beautiful. OMG the humilation. I have never been so mortified in my entire life. We proceeded to play the Desperate Housewives game that really sucked, and thought {what kind of game have we given our friends.} It made no sense at all, Lacka sense.
So I guess my question is, how do we fix it. Do we up the gift that we didn't give. Or pretend that the night just didn't happen. Do we buy them really great birthday gifts in the upcoming year, or do we just lock the doors and pretend that we do not like them anymore. Should we move out of town?
My mother ALWAYS knows what to do, but she is not on the forum at this time, so I will have to ask my siblings and others out there. Help me please!!!!! What is the right thing to do??????
I have never under~gifted in my life, please help me. I could have regifted and done better. I feel really small.

Hey Steve, Sorry about spelling Monty's name wrong, I didn't think anybody would notice.
I think a great new name for you should be Staka. If you don't want to change it we can just call you that anyway. Stacka, yep that sounds good.

Maybe we will just call FatPappy Papa. I think we are on to something here. Then we have Crakah, Macca, Lacka, Stacka, Papa, and then we woud have to add Backa, for Bama since he got off the couch and all.

As bama would say...hahaha Lacka
An egg slicer....how - thoughtful.... That "cracks" me up! (get it? egg? crack? nevermind)
That is too funny. I think everyone has been in that spot before... Reminds me of a friend of mine who's brother had a friend who came to Christmas eve dinner every year... My friend thought she'd do a little something for this guy and she bought him a nice holiday gift set of planters nuts. He gave her a $50.00 gift card to some restaurant..... She is still in agony over that and it's been several years, if that helps.
Of course she upgraded the gift the next year and they are now on an even gift giving plane, however I am not sure that is the best tactic.
I think I would continue giving "thoughtful" gifts such as egg slicers and hope they will downgrade next year...Otherwise you might be stretching your budget and you will only resent it....

Well Crackah, at least I didn't do the assorted nuts. Not that I feel much better sitting here looking at this beautiful piece of furniture.

Would it be kosher to tell them you were thinking about getting them something, and wen they said they were getting you something also, then ask what price range would be agreeable for both parties? Of course there are always the one-uppers (not just those that tell a story better than yours). You know the ones that always have to give the best present even if it means spending more. And then they always play it down like it was nothing. In some people, it is not on purpose, but with some it is hubristic.

Oh and crackah, congrats on covering all the bases. I hadnt even noticed that I achieved 100 posts in all the excitement.
OK, for you non-daytime workers, isn't there a soap opera where a guy has some women locked up in a cave or something also. My wife made me watch it on monday and I saw the guy get shot at the end of the show.

What in the bangladesh is a hubristic? Merriam doesn't even know!
Were you saying that I was trying to 1 up Euson/Lacka's story??? I would never do that! I was just trying to show her that she is not alone..... Nothing can top an egg slicer vs. a piece of furniture for goodness sakes!!!
Ask the wife what the name of the soap was.... sounds like a good one! Will have to try to catch it sometime!
