I see where someone else has already posted the info about the Brunswick stew at Gideon Grove UMC. This is a small church doing good things. They planted and harvested potatoes on some of their property in the fall and gave them to local groups feeding the needy. They've just completed some renovations to their church.... I'm sure they'd appreciate people coming out and buying some stew. I put in my order when I first heard about it... You're right, Cracker Jax, that is a great price, although that tends to be the "going" price here in Stokesdale. We like the recipe the guys at the fire station use, but I've been told this is a good one too. We've never bought from this church, but I say, anything to keep me from having to cook.... especially some good Brunswick stew.
I guess you're probably right, Kris. (MAN food) It probably even started as something hunters fixed over a campfire after a good day.

That's Nabisco all the way around, Spoose used to work for Nabisco - those were the days - we got free crackers and cookies out the wazoo! If I join your clan Cracker, can I be Ginger Snap? I like the way that sounds.......

Allrighty, I put that brew on simmer this week and forgot all about it! This is not nearly a FatPappy or a Ponder Party Castle. It can't hold a candle to Ask Laska, a Bama one-liner, a Cracker post of any kind, a MStewart comeback, a Macca "hearty", a Skiddle-dee-dee, a Scuba-Jane, a Bubba, or anybody else but hopefully, it will at least entertain our SMS!
Fanatical Band Parent will be making himmer's next appearance in Archdale next Saturday

Hope everything's ok Steve! Are you on your way home???
I haven't seen SMS here since Wednesday? Thursday? Hope himmer is safe and sound in Guilford County! I hope the border police didn't catch him smugglin' CAR PARTS back into the US or A
We miss you SA!
I am here safe & sound. Thanks for your concern.
Back in Summerfield again after long yucko trip.
Houston airport has 2 parallel runways that stay busy, yesterday one was shut down for maintenance, so we were #14 for takeoff, read one of those other newspapers (USA Today) about 4 times waiting. Air travel leaves alot to be desired.
Haven't been on much this week. Connections in MX weren't too good, so I did more lurking than jumping on. Mike seemed like he really wanted to be OT'd in another topic, so I obliged, now he wears his badge of honor proudly. Sandra's not too far behind either, seems she's needin' a raise pretty badly?!?!?!?
Typalk onward ........................

It's snowin'!
Well, lookee thar!
Yonder's ol' Earl Scruggs up on the roof a-he'pin' them penglin's dance!
Pick it, son!
**Some o' you Scruggs purists will note Earl is here usin' a strummin' technique rather than his revolutionary trademark three-finger pickin' style.
I wondered about that myself. I can't explain it, but I never argue with Earl.

HEY, KRIS!! I saw Jordan's picture and article in the Camp section of the paper! She did a good job... Following in her mom's footsteps?
FYI - I already picked up my Brunswick stew from Gideon Grove UMC, and it hits the spot on this snowy day! (My hubby even liked it, and he was griping about it's usually too salty....) They were all gathered behind the church under their shelter, and you could smell it as soon as you got out of the car! Yum! Some people actually just drove up and got theirs without even getting out of their cars.... like "curb service"!

Good job, Kris!
(Keep SMS happy an' maybe he won't notice...uh, nuthin!}
Welcome home, Steve!
(Did it confuse you to fly north to get back South to northwest Guilford so's you can see how winter feeled in Summerfield. Hee hee! Snow makes Pappy giddy an' simple-minded.)

Okay, Kris... I'll bite. Where in Archdale will you be, and why? I grew up south of there, so that's my old "stomping ground."

She's a much better writer than me! Faster too....oh to be a young one again
I told the spoose about the stew sale. Himmer is up to himmer's eyeballs in the taxes and ol' lazy bones here (that would be me!) doesn't love that man food enough to go out in the snow for it. I'm gonna call the church on Monday and see if they still have some and if they do, go after it then and surprise the spoose though! I know our church often has extra and they freeze it and keep selling it. Do you know if they will sell out?
