BTW: Hope to finish "Sorcerer's Stone" by the weekend. Gotta plan a trip to Ed McKay's to pic up #2!!

I find myself envisioning what parts of the story would lend themselves to amusement park rides! Brooms! Quidditch! Platform Nine and Three Quarters!♥♥♥

Add "Charlotte's Web" to your reading list Macca!  It was written by E.B. WHITE (Of Strunk and White fame......;))

Be sure you read the Harry Potter books first though!

No one has posted anything about the new reality shows. We watched "The Next Best Thing" sometimes. The season finale was on earlier this evening but I didn't realize it until now.

Tonight they narrowed the six contestants down to three on "American Inventor." The final six inventions were: 1) a convertible women's undergarment that you could wear in a variety of ways (strapless, backless, etc); 2) a gadget that allowed you to hang bicycles (and other things) from the ceiling or wall; 3) a system to store food wraps in a drawer, under a shelf or in a specially designed unit; 4) a paper vehicle in a variety of styles that goes from being a simple remote controlled vehicle to something you can modify on your computer and program; 5) a device you can put on your Christmas tree that will put it out in a matter of seconds if it catches on fire, and 6) a device that converts your coffee maker into a machine that brews tea. They narrowed it down to the bra, fire extinguisher and paper vehicles. Now the public can vote on which one wins. Winner gets $1 million to develop and produce their product. I don't know when the finale airs -- maybe next Wednesday?

Page 525 on Harry Potter. I'm a gettin' thar.

By the way, the author has really done an excellent job of maintainin' the continuity an' consistent quality throughout this series.

I agree 100% Pappy!  While I think some of the books are darker and moodier than the others, none of them are weak in content.

Finished Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone yesterday afternoon. MUST get my hands on Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets TODAY! :D

J.K. ROWLING is on NBC's "Today" show this morning. She was on yesterday, too, but I missed it. They are broadcasting part 2 now but warned that there was going to be information revealed about the plot of Deathly Hallows, so I'm not watching!:D:shock:

Just had to add that, after reading the first book, I'm surprised we haven't heard more about "Fluffy" or "Quirrell" on the forum! Don't some of us know them?:D:shock:

And I think we ALL know "Voldemort!" ;)

I'm in the 600s on the final book. Great story!

Hmmmm..... I thought I posted this earlier, but now I can't find it so forgive me if this post is repeated over in Stokesdale or somewhere.....

That's the way to do it macca!  Wait till the final book is published and THEN start the series!  That way you don't have to wait to find out what happens! Woo Hoo!!!

You done yet Pappy????? Huh?? Huh??

Crackah, I never did read any of the Harry Potter books (shame on me), but I guess with all the acclaim, I will have to now.

It must have been so frustrating in a sense to have to wait literally for years to see how this saga ended? How did you and other readers deal with that frustration of having to wait so long?

Harry Potter is certainly an historical literary event without precedent, which is why I will join Macca in trying to play catch-up so I won't be one of the few around who are clueless and out of touch.

Jim, you are correct. Harry Potter mania is a huge historic literary event and I think we're quite fortunate to have been around to witness it.  These books will be around long after we are gone. I picked the first one up years ago simply to see what had my 2nd grader so enthralled, and I was hooked.

I'm glad you're gonna play catch up with macca.  I'll be interested to hear your take on them.

I find myself feeling sorry for people who haven't read these books. I have never met anyone yet who wasn't hooked after the first book.

I don't know though...Harry Potter may have met his match with you Jim.  ;)  Good Luck!

Pappy, CONGRATS on FINALLY finishing!  Wasn't it great???  I am afraid to say much for fear that I'll slip a spoiler in or something.... Being very careful....

You oughta have a pow wow with Triscuit (the one time 2nd grader) sometime. Maybe I can get himmer to sign up on the forum for the Harry Fest we're gonna throw when the slowpokes catch up. ;)

Shem remembers the tiniest details of the books.  It amazes me.  For instance, the wizard guy who came to escort the Dursleys in Book 7 chapter one (not saying where or why or who) was the same guy who was raving over Harry on his first visit to the Leaky Cauldron in Book 1.  I don't know... maybe you caught that.  I don't remember those tiny details you know......

Anyway, aren't you sorta sad now that we don't have something to look forward to?

Uh-oh...I can see right now Triscuit's gonna be trouble. Hee hee! Book 1 was back when I had hair (plural).

No, Crackah! If I'd been smart I would've started this venture after the 6th book! THEN I would've been ready to jump on Hallows as soon as it arrived and I'd be ready to converse intelligently with you and Pappy about the whole thing! :?

I DID buy a paperback of Chamber of Secrets yesterday afternoon. I want a hardback, but don't want to pay full price. Area libraries had none to check out, so I bought the paperback while I wait for a hardcover to show up in one of the used bookstores!;)
