Alicia, I think I have been waited on by Zombie Girl too, and I agree with your comments, not only about her, but the overall lack of service from the other employees as well.
Even worse, is the tiniest portions of 2 or 3 'small slices' of cheese that they put on their sandwiches (how could they even slice cheese so thinly?). The meat portions aren't much better.
Even though I live in Stokesdale, I usually drive to the Oak Ridge Subway (when I don't want to drive into Greensboro) because of Slow or No service at the Stokesdale location.
Of course, if you really want great (deli) sandwiches, Jersey Mike's beats Subway hands down. And for the very best in subs and deli sandwiches, try Lox, Stock and Bagel on Battleground. No one else can touch LS&B on quality for the price and the service is great too (whether take-out or eat in). Both are more worth the drive to Greensboro over eating Subway anywhere.
My preference is Quiznos (hate their commercials but love their subs), but last night I just didn't feel like driving all the way down Battleground. I should have just stayed home and had Cheerios for supper. I ended up dining on Cheerios anyway. If we had a Quiznos up here, within one week of its opening, there would be nothing in the Subway but cobwebs and skeletonized employees slumped over the counter.
As for the portions, I've noticed that they've shrunk a lot. As I said in another post, I worked in a Subway when I was in my teens (many moons ago...). The BMT footlong used to be one big chunk of a sandwich. Now it's nothing.
Thanks for the LS&B recommendation. I've never tried their sandwiches.

Giacomo's (pronounced jock a moe's) has AWESOME sandwiches. Best kept secret in GSO. Behind the Gate station at the intersection of Battleground and New Garden. If you like Italian Deli food this is the place. Now you know why I am the big guy.

Now, Mr. Mike, be honest. Didn't know you liked a salad anything.....
You probably order a BLT with quadruple bacon and no lettuce or tomato. Probably no bread either, for that matter, but maybe some cheese.

My wife and I have lived in the Greensboro area for 7 years, three different residences, now on the outskirts of Stokesdale. Our comments on area restaurants:
Jersey Mike's on Battleground - great turkey subs and steak & cheese, been there so often I don't have to order anymore
Ruth's Chris Steakhouse on Green Valley - too formal for us, way too expensive, excellent steak cooked at unusually high temperature, good place to impress clients with $8 baked potato. Location under office building is lame.
Village Tavern on Westridge - must be good, always too crowded to get inside
Laddie & Duke's on Battleground - OK food, marginal service, reasonable prices, a step up from Applebee's, but not sure how this place stays in business
Waffle House on Battleground - rarely find one of these this far away from interstates, love sitting at the counter and jawboning with the grill man at 3am.
Mahi's on Lawndale - quiet, romantic, great seafood, in a lousy hidden location
Fuzzy's BBQ in Madison - good old fashioned country cue shack
Carter Brothers BBQ in Hight Point - excellent, always packed at lunchtime
Chili's on High Point Rd - love the ribs & beer in the bar
Asahi on Market - awesome Japanese chefs, and sake!
McAllister's Deli in High Point - delicious sandwiches
Firehouse Subs in High Point - southeastern chain founded by firemen, get the 8" Italian fully loaded
Mama Gina's Pizza in Summerfield - will deliver a pizza all the way out to my house in the boonies of Rockingham county
Outback on Battleground - good $17 steaks, quality seems to be declining
Harper's on Friendly - good place to take grandparents, classic american food
Wholly Guacamole' on Battleground - way better food and drinks than the "Mexico" restaurants, but you'll definitely pay for it
*Places we'll never go again: Applebees, Libby Hill Seafood, Ham's, Stamey's, Red Oak Brewery, Capra's Deli
**New place we plan to try soon: Lucky 32 on Westover
***Need your recommendations for excellent Italian, and seafood

For Italian, try Vino's at Golden Gate Shopping Center. New York feel - not too "overdone Italian decor" Service OK because I always thing I'm being served by a nephew or someone's sister. Not professional but attentive. Food has always been good and very reasonable.
The other hidden one to try is Salvino's. I understand the food is outstanding but haven't been able to try it yet. It's across from Brassfield, next to where the Cue and Spirits used to be and maybe still are.
Another to try is Grappa Grille across from Target on Lawndale. Open only for dinner. Very quiet, soft music, great service. Prices a little more than some others, but not out of sight. Let us know if you like it.

Hi RYJulian,
As for Italian restaurants, I really enjoy Bravo's in the new part of Friendly Shopping Center. The restaurant is very attractive and I especially enjoy the grilled chicken and shrimp scampi (I think it's about $13, so not TOO pricey). I've been there three times so far and service has been consistently very good each time. (And of course, I would be remiss in not mentioning that I also love Elizabeth's in Oak Ridge and the one on the corner of Battleground and Horse Pen Creek.)
Thanks for your recommendations -- I don't get to High Point much, but I've passed by Mahi's on Lawndale for years and have never eaten there ... I'll have to give it a try.

SAlvino's was very good. I wish they had some less cheesy sauces but the cheesy one I had was excellent.
Lucky 32 is where I would eat everyday if I could. The menu's change frequently and the service over is very good. I also like their sister restaurant Green Valley Grill.
I love Village Tavern but I get tired of their menu and have to stop eating there for awhile and then go back. We like to eat there on Saturday late lunch. Seldom crowded after about 1:30 or 2.

This is a little late but,
WELCOME TO THE FORUM RYJULIAN!!!!!!
Ha! Now I can say that I KNOW someone who's eaten an 8$ baked potato!!!
I tell ya... I like the Mayflower in Madison for good ol' nuthin' fancy seafood. (Baked potato comes free with the meal too!) Wonderful FLAKE Ice in their Tea makes it worth the drive in my book... If you go there, be SURE to check out the restrooms! Way cool!!!
And the old timers here will tell ya that I'm a pretty big Olive Garden Fan too!
Gosh... now I'm hungry.

- had a 2.5 inch thick burger the other day. That was jsut the meat btw. it was from a place called mccray's [sp.?] in alamance county on hwy 62N. -out by the county ballfields. Pappy and Mike need to check this place out. It used to be a gas station but now its like a convenience store with a single wide attached to it that makes GREAT burgers.

They probably would add bacon. They had onions, chili, all sorts of stuff. I opted for extra cheeze and hot sauce.
I will have to take pics or something next time I go. And i hope that time is soon!
