SMS is a little under the weather tonight, I had the pain blocker shots in my "bad back" today, so I'm coming down from the "legal high", the nerves in my back that were insulted today are starting to ask "WHY did you stick that needle in me, I don't like needles stuck in me", and rebelling a little bit (actually a whole lot).

Took a quick look, don't see any illicit new posters that don't belong, and all seem to be having a good time, so Y'all behave.  I'll talk to you tomorrow.

PS - this is like a miracle in itself, but I'm actually home all week, so the airlines will have to make their profits without me, while I enjoy your company.  Y'all are much better company.

Dont' let that stop you

I agree Blessings!  There are LOTS of folks on here who's identities remain secret.  We don't mind at all.  We just keep on talkin' like we're best buddies!!!  That's why everyone thinks we all know each other. Now you're just one of the gang! :D

Yikes!  Poor SMS!  Hope your back's feelin' better tomorrow!  I don't blame your nerves for complainin' on little bit.  eek!

This color is called Sawyer!  It's Pappy's signal to skip this post!!!:D  The problem with the season premiere Kris, was that it WASN'T LONG ENOUGH!!!!!  That little Beaver Cleaver type village set in the middle of the island was just plain creepy, don't ya think??? And where are they getting all of the stuff???  The CD's, the Stephen King novels?  Unless I'm mistaken, I didn't see a WALMART on that island anywhere!  They should have let Sayid take care of "Henry Gale" when they had the chance!!!! :shock::shock:

So, for those of us like Blessings and myself who are relative Newbies to the NWO Forum and the MAAN thread, what was it like for all of you old timers those first few days, weeks and months on the Forum? How about all of you sharing your thoughts with us and perhaps even throw in a little 'history' of MAAN as well. Were you all basically just talking to yourselves at first? How did you recruit new posters? Did you ever think you would see the day of 100,000 views? And most importantly, what's your next goal or goals now that 100,000 views is almost accomplished?

Mornin' All!!!

Well Jim, (I feel a little like I'm being interviewed or something :D)... Well Jim, back in the day, things were a lot different around here. Everything was black and boring and there were no smileys.  There was lots of participation due to the what has now become known as "Black Tuesday," or the November '05 election. After the horrifying results came in, folks went into a depression and were not around very much.

Somewhere on the CC forum I think, we realized what fun it was to just talk about random things and realizing that SMS and Monty were becoming more and more proficient at using that OT sign, we soon realized that we had best move our craziness to a forum where no OT's were allowed.  That's when MAAN came along.

Then, sometime around December or January, this place had virtually dried up and turned into a ghost town.  It was worrisome for the few of us who saw the value in the dialogue exchanged here(on the other forums... not that MAAN dialogue isn't valuable, but er... uh).  Anyway, we did our best to perservere and here we are!  I'm sure Pappy can give you a much more "colorful" interview.... Watch out if he starts out tellin' ya that we had to walk uphill with no shoes on in a snowstorm or something.... :D

Mornin' y'all!

Sorry 'bout yer back, Steve!

Ah, the good ol' days! Pappy used to talk to the animals an' they'd tell me what was goin' on while I whittled an' pondered.

Pappy cain't say enough good thangs about the forum an' partic'ly the folks on MAAN. It's the perfect place to either tune in or tune out or sometimes both at the same time!

Pappy's gotta go check on a batch. I'll be back!

Steve, if this should be posted elsewhere please let me know for further reference. Thank you.

Hi Gang,

I sometimes post to myself, or feel like I do when no one replies to my posts, though that has not happened here, only on other forums I have visited.

I have a question I would like to throw out. Being from Massachusetts and a transplant to NC I am curious about something...

First let me divulge a bit about me and hubby. I joined this forum because our "chosen" profession connected us to our fearless Editor, Ms. P. S. This prompted me to join the forum. Also we live in Stokes county but our heart is down near ya'll. We have been trying to sell our house since last Feb so we can move to the Stokesdale, Summerfield, Oak Ridge area. Looks like we may be staying put up here for a while longer. Anyway, we both work down there and most of our friends and acquaintances are down there, so we try to blend in like we live there!  :D

My question is based on an observation I have made.

There seems to be alot of natives in ya'll's area but also newbies with all the new sub-divisions going up. My job has introduced me to a ton of folks moving in from other states recently. I guess everyone hears about how nice it is to live in NC. I find it interesting as I drive through Stokesdale, Oak Ridge and so on that it is an ecclectic mix of older farm type homes then all of a sudden a sub division pops up, do you think this changes the feel of these NC town ships, as I like to call them?

One of the things I loved about NC was driving down roads such as 68 or 65 and seeing fields with rolled bales strewned about, it seems that may soon be a vanishing site from these quaint towns?

What do you all think? Don't get me wrong I like shopping centers as much as the next gal!

This is just my curiosity talking out loud. When you have a 40 minute drive one way to and from work you have a great deal of time to ponder. I am definitly a ponderer.

Blessings to you all.

PS

It is nice to be back posting.
