I kept lookin' when they lowered that park bathroom down to see if there were any Wicked Witch shoes stickin' out from under it.

Tee Hee, Pappy! I have to admit that I had a good chuckle -- yeah, and maybe I looked for the shoes a little -- I'm surprised somebody didn't at least stash a tiny pair there, just for us forum folks! -- when I saw the bathroom! ♥♥♥

I was also at the Park Grand Opening yesterday..............hmmmm, wonder if Crackah' was counting me in that group of 12 persons she talked to??????     Course then, I'm not sure if I talked to Crackah either.

Wouldn't it be great if we could have events like this one more often...........course now that we have a park, I guess we can ?!?!?!?!

Spent time at just about every place, watched Ms Williams drawing the kids faces, and the long line patiently waiting in front of her.

Those pie tin thiings were neat, I noticed the adults wanted to steal all the fun with the concrete, weren't going to turn the kids loose dishing the concrete into the pie tins. Aw, can't blame them.

There's going to be alot of happy birds eating up the leftover birdseed today.

Congratulations Summerfield.

PAPPY! I looked for you! I don't remember seeing you, though!!! (BTW: I borrowed Pappy's post from the Summerfield topics!)♥♥♥

Macca, I'm pretty sure the reason you didn't see Pappy is that he weren't there. Must have been an imposter, unless of course, Pappy can be in two places at one time.

I actually saw Pappy (or his lookalike) up here in Williamsburg at the Ripley's Believe It Or Not Museum. Now Pappy I knows you is OLD, but I didn't think you were old enough to be in a museum. Especially one that asks you to believe it or not!

And the funny part was, I had just come from the "bad back" section of parking with another gentleman, we were close to the food area, when the VIP's drove up and were turned away.

I honestly thought they were resigned to parking in the "bad back" section like the majority of the crowd, but apparently chose to drive away.   Their loss !!

If you remember, I offered to escort them, not to provide "valet parking".  It was too beautiful a day to miss out on exercising bad backs. My back loved it.

Hee hee! Yessir, Mr Jim, Pappy likes to experience a little museum culture now an' then. You know, to check up on 'em an' see if they got it right.

Then ag'in, I also enjoy a good park visit, despite them rules ag'in alcohol an' firearms. Hee hee!

Kris, actually it is not I, as I don't own a VW Bug.

I am currently out of town for a few days on a work assignment in the Williamsburg, Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula areas of Virginia so I don't have access to the GN&R except via the Internet and have not seen the aforementioned photo. What makes the VW bug photo so unique?

Jim, After seeing Kris' post, I dug out my N&R (I don't read it every day -- just not enough time, what with keeping up with the forum and all:D) and found the picture she mentioned. It is in the "Triad Cars" section -- you know, where they show the latest car on front and have the "Car Talk" column. It says it is a 1972 VW Super Beetle that James Flynt of Stokesdale bought 4 yrs ago. His uncle Fred Davison built an entirely new engine from individual parts they ordered. He added new EPI rims, installed a new front end and added new running boards. Still plans to do some more things to the exterior... It sounds as though his wife didn't like it when he bought it but now he looks "like a genius. These cars are great on gas."♥♥♥

Thanks for explaining macca! WOW, there must be a lot of FLYNTS in Stokesdale??? Sorry for the confusion!

It's great to read about the Summerfield Park Opening! It sounds like it was a wonderful day for all you Summerfieldians (and you StokesdALIEN party crashers too :D - just kiddin')

T minus 3 hours and 4 minutes until Panthers kickoff! The Northwest Vikings are 0-4 (but the BAND sure is great!) The Elon Phoenix just couldn't get it together in time for a win yesterday :( I sure hope the Panthers bring it on this afternoon!!

Well, according to the voters over here, there seems to be a consensus that there might be one too many. Oops, we may have to wait until the next town council election for them to speak their minds officially.

Kris! I would've thought it was Jimbo, too. Then, when he said he didn't have a Beetle, I figured I'd give him more of the info, thinking he might be able to make the connection for us!♥♥♥
