500 bottles of water, 750 hot dogs 500 pieces of cake later it was a grand opening for a park. The Baptist Church popped so much pop corn their cord burned up and they had to quit.  The Methodist Church brought real home made ice cream and dipped ice cream for an hour and a half until they ran out. There were happy faces every where. Oh and Shelia Williams did these wonder characatures of children until her hand must have been ready to fall off. The story teller told a wonderful sounding story. And the cloggers clogged until I was worried their legs were going to fall off. The band Generic Hustle played wonderful music. The entrance looks great with this really beautiful sign announcing the Summerfield Park.  I am so tired I can't stand up any longer and hopefully the blue dye from the cake icing will come out of my hands soon. It was an absolutley perfect day.

Ok, so now I don't have to worry that Pappy and Crackah were well fed.

Gosh were there any leftovers for everyone else?

With all that masticating and jawboning going on, no wonder those two are tired this evening.

I just want to say that our park is beautiful, our volunteers are wonderful and the forum folks (12 of you that I can think of right off hand) that I got the chance to chat with and hang out with are the greatest bunch of people ever!

I love you guys!

Crackah! I don't even know how you know who people are, but I was there too! The little maccas, hubby and I were there right at 4 -- Woo Hoo! What a crowd! The kids had a good time with the stepping stones and bird feed stuff! We all walked around the pond, the kids played on the playground, we ate hot dogs, ice cream, popcorn and cake!! Yum yum!!:D

What a beautiful day to be outside enjoying the fresh air and all the fun! Needless to say, we had a blast, and the little maccas are sound asleep now!!♥♥♥

What? You mean that even though Steve-o had offered personal assistance, no one took him up on it???!!!???:shock::shock:

So, BS' record of not attending special events in Summerfield still stands??? She doesn't know what she's missing.... Too bad. Did DC attend? Other council members? (I wouldn't expect Mayor Brown to, given the circumstances.)♥♥♥

Kris, actually it is not I, as I don't own a VW Bug.

I am currently out of town for a few days on a work assignment in the Williamsburg, Northern Neck and Middle Peninsula areas of Virginia so I don't have access to the GN&R except via the Internet and have not seen the aforementioned photo. What makes the VW bug photo so unique?

Jim, After seeing Kris' post, I dug out my N&R (I don't read it every day -- just not enough time, what with keeping up with the forum and all:D) and found the picture she mentioned. It is in the "Triad Cars" section -- you know, where they show the latest car on front and have the "Car Talk" column. It says it is a 1972 VW Super Beetle that James Flynt of Stokesdale bought 4 yrs ago. His uncle Fred Davison built an entirely new engine from individual parts they ordered. He added new EPI rims, installed a new front end and added new running boards. Still plans to do some more things to the exterior... It sounds as though his wife didn't like it when he bought it but now he looks "like a genius. These cars are great on gas."♥♥♥

WOO HOO! The forum got nearly a page in the NW Observer today!! There's one box that says "What are your neighbors talking about?"

They quoted different ones of us: Jim Flynt on growing grapes in downtown Stokesdale (in hopes of improving the demeanor of members of council) :D

Gosh Macca, I can only hope they don't run me out of town for those remarks! Let me know if you hear of any town council members gathering up hot tar and a truckload of feathers......

Maybe you could convince 'em to throw you in the briar patch ... ♥♥♥

Macca Macca Macca you are trying to make me be bad.  You are thinking that the other pengling has gone to sleep and that shem will not know that I have been bad........you know shem will

Hey, Glad you were there today, hate I missed meeting you!!!!  Such a fun day.

Yep, the record stands BS has not attended a town function that I know of.  I don't attend all of them, but I do most.

All other Council Members were spotted, except Mayor Brown, but we do understand that.  Carolyn, Bob, Dena, Dwayne and I still  think of Jane and Mike as council members they were there too.  Jane dishing cake, and Mike looking for bacon...

What a wonderful day.  Macca so glad you and the little Maccas could attend.

PAPPY! I looked for you! I don't remember seeing you, though!!! (BTW: I borrowed Pappy's post from the Summerfield topics!)♥♥♥

LACKA!!! Let's just keep posting about other stuff and maybe shem will not notice!!! I'm sorry -- didn't mean to draw attention to your slip....

Did you watch the space shuttle launch this morning? It finally went off about 11:15, and without a hitch!! While they were waiting for liftoff, the commentator on MSNBC said that NASA was hoping that it would finally get to go off. He said that it hoped to be rid of its nickname "PENGUIN" (whoops! Sorry about the " ") -- because it was black and white and couldn't get off the ground! (I think they meant that as an insult -- imagine that!!)!♥♥♥

Yeah Macca what you said,  If we keep talking maybe shem will not read back that far.  Hum, yeah, I think that might just work......

I cannot talk about the shuttle, even if it is related to penguins.  Well you know because I lied once and told....well and CNN was there, and then I had to explain to the little lackas.  It was horrible.  Can't we talk about Bama or something?
