I have heard of a lot of people going to Kirkwood. Must be the happening place. I heard that they have a great parade with all the kids. Even heard that Howard Coble is there. Is that true? Say it ain't so!!!! He wouldn't be at a parade that small would he?
Heard that Judge Robbie Hassle is there too. Enough reason for me to stay away. How did he get elected again. Maybe that voter turn out is like Summerfield. He would qualify to be a CC.
What is your reason for going all the way over there Crackah? That is a long way form SF and Africa.

Well, Cracker Jax, in addition to trying to keep up with what's going on, my family and I were gone to Arizona for 10 days right after school was out! H-o-t! Of course, it's a dry heat -- but it's still hot! At least 110 degrees every day. There was one fire going on when we got there. They called it the "potato" fire, but I never knew why. We arrived there on Friday, June 9. The following Thursday we spent most of the day in Sedona, taking a Jeep tour to the area around the town, a trolley tour of the town and walking around, shopping and sightseeing the rest of the time. Then we went back there on Saturday on our way to Flagstaff and the Grand Canyon. We spent several hours in the afternoon at Slide Rock Park. Sunday we went to the Grand Canyon, where we could see the fire on the north rim, set by Park officials as a controlled fire, that got out of control this week. While we were at the Canyon, we learned that the fire near Sedona had started. We could see the smoke, and the next day, as we drove back to Phoenix to catch our plane home, we could see it even better -- we had to drive around Sedona on the way. The road we had traveled while visiting there earlier was not open; it was the one they were hoping would act as a barrier to keep the fire from spreading.
Sedona is a beautiful town, surrounded by lots of cliffs and natural rock formations. Many western movies were filmed there. "Chimney Rock" is a famous landmark seen in many of them. I thought about Fat Pappy and his tumbleweeds, but I never saw any. I had hoped we could visit a ghost town, Jerome, near Sedona, but no one else thought it would be that great. We kept trying to find a short Suharo (not sure of spelling) cactus so we could get a picture looking like it was holding the NWO, but never did. We saw a nursery that might have had one, but we never had a chance to stop by. The ones growing wild were way bigger than we could reach to position the paper!
We stayed in the area just north of Phoenix, an area called Cave Creek, right next to Carefree. One of the roads was called "Carefree Highway." I wonder if it was named for the song or vice versa. There were some interesting "shops" there -- one called "The Town Dump." It had stuff everywhere -- inside, outside, and had added more outbuildings that may have been built around some of it. Their prices seemed steep, but they evidently did a booming business -- had a UPS center on site! They've had their own growing pains in that area. Maintained their old time, small town identity until a few years ago, then just starting developing like crazy. Now there are houses in what used to be the desert. I'm sure we drove thru areas that will be just as developed if we go back in another 10 years or so. We got some wonderful pictures of wide open spaces with only the cactus as the occupants.
Well! I've rambled enough! Thanks for inviting me over, CJ! I try to keep up with all you write, and am always amused! (You and your sibs are quite a trio!) Have a great 4th!

Wow what a trip Vicki!
We are trying to arrange a trip out there next summer ourselves. I'm makin' note of all the places you went so I can be sure to check them out. We are either starting at the Canyon and traveling to Vega$ or vice versa... haven't decided. I think it'll be best to end up in Vega$ or I might not be able to afford transportation to the Canyon!
Pappy's gonna be all excited to hear about your trip too! He's a huge fan of the western genre I hear....
Glad you breezed thru Vicki! Come back soon!!!

ALOHA!
Back from the Pacific trying to get back on Eastern Standard Time! We got home Thursday afternoon, unpacked and crashed for 12 hours but now I'm all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed back on Hawaii time
I did alot of this , could often be found under one of these on the beach. Did some and saw some beautiful .
Ate macadamia nuts til I'm sick of 'em. Drank a few mai tais Ate a lot of pineapple, shrimp and fish. Saw Kilauea volcano erupting and Waimea canyon (the grand canyon of the pacific) and some beautiful waterfalls. Ate breakfast with some geckos one morning Heard a lot of roosters crowing as, believe it or not, Hawaii is overrun with free range chickens Got up close and personal with some green sea turtles and a hawaiian monk seal!
It was a great trip but as we were wingin' it home, I found myself clickin' my heels and sayin' "there's no place like home" It's great to be back in good old Guilford County!
Hope you all are feelin' fine?! I see I've got some catchin' up to do on all the great northwest area nothingness I've got 3 NWO papers to read as well!
Happy 4th to all!

Hoo Wee!!
Mornin' y'all!
Pappy has enjoyed readin' 'bout all these trips!
I was plannin' a trip myse'f, out to the garden to spray some beetles an' check on my rabbit herd. Hee hee!
Vicki, I'm glad you joined up with us MAANiacs! Pappy has always had a thang fer the Southwest. One o' these days if I can save up enough gas money I might drive my truck out yonder. Maybe rope some mountain lions in the Grand Canyon with ol' Zane Grey, or ride down the rapids with Mr. Powell. I'd love to see Zion an' Antelope canyon. Yee haw!
Kris, I'm glad you made it back. Sounds like you had a great time. I reckon it'd be hard to have a bad time out yonder!
Crackah! Howard Coble!? Why didn't you say so! Nuthin' says "Fourth o' July" an' "America" like farworks, grillin' out, an' Howard Coble!
