Thanks for the vote of confidence, macca! Obviously, I've not really been in charge because if'n I had been, you'd be readin' this on PAGE 280-WHATEVER instead of PAGE 1 ;)

Hope ever'one's enjoyin' the springtime!

Day 1.
The garage looms before us like a vast trackless jungle, dark and mysterious. Our native helpers have abandoned us. Sensing manual labor they scattered and were gone like terrified impala. We are determined to go on...alone in this alien world, fighting back the mounting fear and foreboding. We are resolved that somehow, somehow we must reach the interior.

Day 1, 10 minutes later.
Our relentless pace has drained us. We take a break and set up base camp on an abandoned Gott cooler. We are too tired to go on. I pray this log book reaches civilization, even if we do not. Must...rest...
Found this log book out on the driveway this mornin'. Can't wait to hear how it all turns out for the fearless frontiersman and the missis.

Here's a ironical news tidbit. They caught the head o' the Sicilian mafia in Corleone.

ROME, April 11 — After 43 years on the run, Bernardo Provenzano, the alleged boss of all bosses of the Sicilian mafia, was arrested today by Italian police officers in a farmhouse near Corleone, the hilltop town made famous by Mario Puzo's Godfather novels.

Pappy has to wonder, why didn't they think to look there 43 years ago?! Didn't they see the movies?!

I'm Back and I missed every one of you!

I see you haven't been about to flip our forum back to normal yet.... What's new?  Did I miss anything??

Pappy, you make a wonderful word of the day-er and your logbook was truly inspirational!

I saw what must have been some of your kinfolk up in West Virginny....

Wow ... beautiful country--- beautiful beautiful, beautiful!!!! I was dreading this trip like the plague, but turned out real nice.  We traveled half the state and didn't see ANY houses like they have here...NOT ONE. I've always heard they were "lacking in the $$Texas$$ dept", but it was just one of those things you gotta see to believe.  I won't say they were poor though... I talked to a lot of locals along the way and they appreciate what god gave them and the beauty that surrounds them.  It is a good thing tornados don't dip down into the mountains though cause with all those trailers in WV, shoo-eeee they'd have a big problem!

It was interesting, met about 5 folks who asked where we were from and when we told them, they said they'd tried living down here for a while but the summers were too hot for them!

Went into a real Coal mine.  Needless to say I have a new respect and appreciation for that job, past and present.  Most of our boys won't ever know backbreaking labor like that was, thank goodness.

Anyway... didn't get lost till we got back in NC and missed the 74 turnoff and ended up in Yadkinville or somewhere.....

Glad to be home on level ground.  Cracker ate a lot of "carsick crackers".

:D:D:D:D

'Preciate you takin' care o' the log book, Kris. Well, we never made it plumb back to civilization, but it's nice to be back in Summerfield. The "native he'pers" took a break from watchin' TV an' come out a-lookin' fer us on account of it was gettin' on toward suppertime. Pappy told 'em if'n they'd tote us out'n the garage, I'd order a pizza an' grant 'em immunity at the next tribal council. I think they have done formed up a alliance, even though they already had us outnumbered.

Reckon me an' Mammy'll get re-outfitted fer another expedition sometime soon. The jungle don't give up its secrets easy.

Take it easy, now Crackah. It's like goin' without water...you gotta take it slow when you finally get out the dessert! Easy...

Wonder how big West Virginny would be if'n it was stretched out flat?
