Crackah, I heard that you want to learn how to shuffle the chips too. The key is to practice with only six chips, three on each side. Use all of your fingers to hold them in place and one finger to lift them all from the table. It is really simple if you can do that. Maybe we need to get together for a THE game one night. I will teach you to shuffle chips.

Got that much figured out I think Lacka... The six chip thing... The Unibomber himself taught me.
They say it's easier to practice on a pillow. I think my fingers are just too short... worn down from all the typalking you know....
McDreamy and Merideth had a "moment" in the closet while she was hyperventilating over some drama with her mama.
Now just waiting for Wednesday night... Poker night you know...

Lacka,
Enjoyed your THE story.... You people are gonna suck me into this thread no matter how much I try to avoid it... You know, just trying to lurk and enjoy the show! Cracker Jax has already commented on my avatar (I got tired of not having one, especially since everyone else is getting them now)!
Just had to comment on your story about the deaf poker players... My husband is retired from UNC-G, where he taught psychology for 35+ years, but he still contracts with them for a couple of days a week. One of the reasons he continues to do that is that he really enjoys working with the students.
One of his last students is deaf. Thru the years I have met various students but have never gotten close with any of them, but I remember J from the beginning, partially b/c he has talked about her a lot in terms of the challenges she has faced as well as presented to the school. I remember when her sister returned his call to let J know she'd been accepted and I was the only one home -- how excited she was for her. There have been calls when her husband speaks for her, and ones when an interpreter is with her. And there have been calls when I've nearly hung up b/c I thought there was a child playing on the phone but it turned out to be her. She can speak, but very slowly and with difficulty. She reads lips too.
Before she came to UNC-G, she had been an actor... performed in NYC, in "Children of a Lesser God," in addition to other things. I don't know what other works she's done. Her husband, who is not deaf, acts too.
Anyway, she and her husband had a baby about 4 years ago. Her husband is all into gadgets and all... Did all kinds of things to their house with lights to let her know when the doorbell rang, alarms went off, etc. -- very helpful, cool things. The Christmas after her little girl was born, there was a party. She and I were sitting and talking and her baby was fussy. J said she'd not been feeling well and they may not stay long but she knew everyone wanted to see the baby and she wanted to visit for a while .... I was helping her soothe the little girl when the baby began fussing a little, but nothing major... but she scrunched up her face the way babies do, and J asked me if she was okay.... said she couldn't always tell from her expressions whether she was really fussy or just a little.... I'm sure as time went on J became more able to "read" her baby's face, but it sure made me appreciate more how much we take for granted....
She and her family are in Rochester, NY, now and she loves it there. When they were here, her house was the place to be. They'd have parties and other students would just hang out there. They organized pickup baseball games at UNC-G, all kinds of things and J was always right there in the middle of it.

Morning Everyone!!!
I can't imagine why you would try to avoid this thread Vicki, but I'm glad you drop in occasionally!
Loved the stories. We do all seem to take our abilities and our gifts for granted. Important things like hearing your baby laugh or cry or listening to music (Life with no music???) are definitely taken for granted by most.
I will be sharing these stories with my kids this afternoon - and when they start their fussing and arguing and I start thinking I wish I had a sound proof room where I could go and learn to crochet or something.....
I will think again.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
On a less serious note...
Lacka, I hear they are teaching a Texas Hold 'Em class at UNCG (Maybe Vicki's hubby is teaching it?? ) this spring... Wanna take it with me??
I got the lying...er bluffing thing down pat too!
Good monday everyone. Lacka, sorry to confess I do.did not watch Desperate Housewives. Therefore I cannot relate it to sprts for anyone. However I can relate that NCState went to double overtime sunday afternoon to beat Clemson. Bennerman had to shoot a 3 with 0.00000002 seconds left to send it to overtime (not really it was more like 9 or something I dunno but when you're a fan it seems like 0.000002. ).
lacka maybe if I split all my posts up, then I can have some small hope of almost getting close to near competing with you for the race to 400. I dont think I can match up.
So, has anyone else been to the Southern Family Market (formerly Bi-Lo). I think they have gradually gotten more expensive than even Food Dog. Bi-Lo used to be (IMO) the cheapest of all the grocery stores around but Southern Family Markets ruined it. I dont think the store quality or selection of items is as good either. It seems to be going downhill while the prices go up.
Loved the stories! What a great way to catch a second of R&R this morning with coffee.
Bama... yep, how about that WOLFPACK!! My nose was absolutely pressed against the glass yesterday watching them play. It was an exciting game.
For Lacka...
I was waiting for the sports version, but since it's not coming.... Here's your housewives update from last week...
The Nun gave Carlos a pamphlet on getting a catholic marriage annuled, and he in turn gave Gabrielle an ulitmatum. Baby or annulment. Gabby recriprocated and said no baby... annul if you want. Carlos chose Gabby and Gabby said ok to baby. Gabby "confessed" to the priest that Carlos and the nun might have a thang going on and priest got nun reassigned to Fairbanks Alaska... Nun was miffed. Cat fight ensued.
Tom helped Lynette w/ advertising work and got the fever to go back to work. He applied at her company and her boss loved him so he was hired. She naturally has reservations about working with hubby. Glad Tom is getting more air time myself... Loved him on Melrose.
Susan.. boring - dating Dr. who wants to remove her floating spleen. Hello? Mike??
Mary Alice's hubby and kid weren't on show and neither was Mike. Obviously if Mike was not on this episode, you didn't miss much.
Brie saw Caleb (the slow stalker guy) in the Applewhite's window and was gonna tell the girls on POKER night. (Uh.. When did they start playing poker??? Didn't they use to just sit around and drink coffee??) Betty Applewhite found out via Brie's daughter who told Betty's son cause she was mad that Bree won't let them date. Daughter gave Betty a little blackmail info about Bree's gay son running over Carlos' mother and Bree covering it up last year. Betty said, if you tell, I'll tell so Betty ended up playing POKER with the girls.....
There you have it....
