Well in Stokesdale we would simply refer to the Oak Ridge hoity toity as high falutin' whereas in Summerfield they would no doubt refer to them as The Bourgeoisie.
My question is to simply help the restaurant waiters and waitresses in Summerfield and Stokesdale:
When serving the hoity toity from Oak Ridge do you serve them brie with their whine?

LOL Rev! I must however, take issue with that statement. I am from Summerfield and I can't prounounce Bourgeoisie, let alone spell it (didn't even try... just copied your spelling).... Even if I try using the "muffy and buffy" accent!
In keeping with the spirit of Christmas, I'm thinking that perhaps we ought to be nicer to our neighbors up on "The Ridge." One of 'em might just happen in here after they wake up from their hibernation
and they'd think we were ganging up on them or something! They haven't really done anything other than not chat with us right?? I take full responsibility for starting the "uppity talk" and I apologize.
Come on in when you wake up you Ridgers! I'll ask everyone to be nice! We were just poutin' a little bit cause we are feeling ignored!

Fine we will be nice. Just try not to fit into too many of our stereotypes and you will be ok. Maybe.
P.S. had some decent Gumbo at Ruth's Chris

Why rumor has it that some of them folk over in Oak Ridge done gone so uppity that they eat them little bitty snails in some kinda wine sauce with garlicky butter. Why we plume have 'em all over our door steps in the summer and can't get rid of 'em. Maude wouldn't think of putting them ugly critters in one of her saucing pans.
And if you offer them folk from Summerfield a little shot of your Boone's Farm why they gits downright offended. I s'pose they think we is supposed to give 'em the whole bottle. They sits around sniffing that wine and talking 'bout bouquet and some such instead of just taking a big gulp. Why I never.....You just wait until our new fangled winery opens up over here in Stokesdale and that'll learn 'em.
Maybe town needs to change our motto from "we serve no 'shine until it's time" to "we serve no wine until it's time."
Why it's no wonder them big city folks is having to come online and ask the rest of us culinary gourmets where to go for sumthin good to eat. Bet most of 'em have never even been to a good church picnic neither.......

Rev, you reminded me of some o' them church homecomin' picnics from my younger days. (Not the Boone's Farm part, the later part.) Waitin' through the sermon for the culinary reward afterwards was like a allegory of endurin' hardship while keepin' our eyes on the prize to come. Haw! Fried chicken, tater salad, home-made macaroni and cheese, pecan pies--all done to heavenly perfection!
Now, if we had a restaurant around here that served food like that, you'd be hard pressed to drag Pappy outta there. I'd need to wear a safety sign while eatin' that said "Keep Your Hands and Feet Clear!"

I like when you go past a church in the (farther) South and see smoke coming up from a smoker in the back. That's Awesome!. Thats how you know some good cooking is going on. Last edited on Dec 29th, 2005 12:28 pm by bama80

Yeah they used to have live music on some nights. I think they may have discontinued that though. I think it was Friday nights.

Subway is always good and we dont have to compete against each other because each town has one now. Maybe we could have a SUBWAY TOUR.
