I KNOW that we are so hip, so cool, so with it.... And I see proof of it all the time.... You know we talk about people saying things and we said it here first....

I think it was Monday, Ellen Degeneres hosted her 35th High School reunion on her show... Flew all of her classmates to her studio and they did all kinds of stuff... Anyway, one of the things she did was a video of what high school was like, and of course it had some real pictures in it but also some funny stuff.

She went to high school in Texas, evidently a small town (Atlanta, TX). During one segment of the video she talked about all the nightlife in the town on the weekends.... and showed a deserted street and a TUMBLEWEED rolled thru...

♥♥♥

bama, fatpappy- In defense of my comment about 'decent' folks, Steve used it first in his statement to the Town Council last night, read the last paragraph. I wasn't insinuating that our esteemed leader wasn't "decent".

That tumbleweed done started somethin'.......I've been thinkin' about dessert all day so I had to bake a cake, darn it! It's in the oven now. Do you think maybe later on when it's finished bakin' that I could push that button on my computer and slide ya'll a piece over on that little tray that pops out? :D

Just in case it won't work, here's the recipe:

Darn Good Chocolate Cake (that's really the name, I'm not making it up :))

1 Duncan Hines Devil's Food Cake Mix (gotta be DH!)
1 small package chocolate instant pudding mix
4 eggs
1 cup sour cream
1/2 cup warm water
1/2 cup oil
1 1/2 cups choc chips

Mix everything except the choc chips with an electric mixer. Fold in choc chips with spatula. Batter will be thick! Pour into bundt pan that has been greased and floured. Bake 350 for 45-50 minutes. Cool on rack for 20 minutes, remove from pan and cool 20-30 minutes more.

I usually just dust it with powered sugar and serve warm. Really good with raspberry perserves on the side too! If you really want it chocolatey, frost with this:

Chocolate Ganache

3/4 cup whipping cream
1 cup choc chips
1 tbls. liqueur (Grand Marnier, schnapps, etc) (optional!)

Bring cream to boil over med heat while stirring. Pour hot cream over choc chips in a mixing bowl and stir until smooth. Stir in liqueur if you so desire it:D Let stand for 10 minutes to thicken and spoon over cake.

Kris!!! Is that tray for cake????   I always thought that slidey out drawer was a cup holder!!

I'll be waitin' for my chocolate cake.

I heard last night that the Youth Council wants recipes from the community for a cookbook they are making....

Will you send that one to them Kris? Any others you have that are good too would be appreciated.  They have not collected many so far and unless they collect 200, the cookbook can't be published.

Anyone else have recipes???  Please send them to SYCouncil@bellsouth.net

Speaking of recipes... someone told me about a recipe with 2 ingredients and I thought NO WAY...

Anyway she said to use Self Rising Flour and Ice Cream....

Supposedly makes BREAD.  I am trying it tonight and will let you know the results...If it works, I'll post the entire LIST of ingredients....

Doesn't sound as good as Kris' cake, but some things you just gotta try....
