There's another good one I haven't heard in a long time about Marcel Ledbetter losin' a fight at a beer joint and comin' back later with a lightweight McCulloch chainsaw to settle the score and they ended up givin' Marcel the beer joint. I can't recollect exactly how it goes.

Jerry's stories were never all that complicated, but to read them in print without Jerry's interpretation, is like hearing Ben Stein describe a VanGogh. "Bunch o' wavy lines, some trees, some clouds, couple more wavy lines..."

We won't hold it against you. You're a good boy otherwise.

Y'all know I'm a Yankee from Chicago.   Married a southern girl from Tennessee, who is well versed in Jerry Clower.  I am now getting more education than I bargained for.

Recent comment in my house - directed at me   YOU MEAN YOU DON'T KNOW WHO JERRY CLOWER IS?????  I GREW UP ON JERRY CLOWER!!!!!!

OK, Jerry apparently didn't make it up to Chicago on TV, we only had Rowan & Martin's Laugh In, and Hee Haw.  Junior Samples with his BR549.  Goldie Hawn when she was younger than Kate Hudson is today.

So my wife is now insisting I must (in accordance with Pappy's wishes) rush out an get a Jerry Clower CD.   Didn't realize that Super Moderatin' was going to expand my cultural horizons to this degree.

Pappy understands how bein' from Chicago might have held you back some, Steve, but we're all hopin' you'll get over it an' go on to live a normal life one day. HAW! Look how far you've come already! You married a girl from Tennessee, you moved here, an' now you're gonna buy your first Jerry Clower CD...(sniff)...I'm proud of you, boy!

Poor ol' Carl Sandburg was born in Chicago an' as far as I can tell he never went "HAW!" in his life. Sad, but true...

(You know your Pappy's just joshin' you!)

Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl Super Bowl There, I said it!

Pappy don't care whose side you're on, you can't help but be touched by the sight o' big ol' Bettis gettin' a kiss from his mama! Mama an' Daddy are both proud o' their little Jerome playin' in the Super Bowl! I bet his mama told him to be careful out there an' his daddy said just do your best.

Pappy's got somethin' in his eye...

Just got back from Chicago. Went all over Field Museum, Science and Tech. Museum and Art Institute of Chicago. We had to ride the subway to Wrigley Field, fun, fun. I can't wait to go to a game there. One of the fun places to eat was Dick's Last Resort.. good ribs & good music...the Blues, you know. Gino Pizza's YUMMY again! Great place Steve.

Glad you're a southern boy now! Ol Pappy will learn ya some of our ways. Jerry C?? Yep, you have some learn'n ta do.

IF you just got back, you must have had a cold & white visit.   Heck of a time to visit Chicago, but sounds like it went OK & you hit the fun spots.  Glad you had a good visit !!

Everytime I start to think I've pretty well adapted to the south, get hit with another one.  Yep, Pappy caught me off guard with  Jerry C.  Will have to get ed'cated on this one.  16 of my ???? years have been in the south.........learned fast you don't have to shovel sunshine.
