Sorry I missed you this morning Macca P.I.

Took a little trip to Disney last year.  What a blast.

While I was recuperating from the Tower of Terror on the bench outside, and waiting for my innards to fall back into place after being plastered to the inside top of my skull, The little Crackah's were riding the RR coaster across the way. They came running up to me to tell me about this new "rock" group they'd heard of on the ride and asked me if I thought we could get the "Walk this Way" song on CD.  I told them to "Dream On" as the spouse and I chuckled to ourselves.... You know, if I'd introduced them to Aerosmith, the group would have gone down on the cool meter from 10 to zero!

I finally rode the Rockin' Roller Coaster and I gotta tell ya... It's great if you don't mind your innards being PLASTERED to the inside back wall of your body!  That coaster makes the Crackah emit some very unnatural noises!!

Very quote-worthy - just had to make Pappy say it again louder :D

We missed you, but Super Steve reminded us where you were!
In fact, I drove past NWHS on my way home

WOW......didn't realize NWHS had 3 groups now.  What are they, how many students in each?  Sandra, remember when.........?!?!?!  Kris, I am happy beyond words (almost) to hear how the band is flourishing.....sounds like the "tree has filled back out beautifully".

You're right, you meet people from across the state, seem to run into them again in other competitions, really nice folks.

OK, I'll get my translator to help me out here :D Was going to PM Steve to share but you know us Frenchshems, we have beaucoup do passion and I have it for the band (like ya'll haven't already noticed ;)) so I'm posting here instead for all to read:

We have 2 Winterguard groups this year and 1 (very large - 30, I think!) percussion group. The percussion group won the championship in our circuit last year and from what I saw yesterday, they will be even more amazing this year. They were "promoted" last night to a higher level of competition so that will push them to really put forth their best effort. The musical talent that we have at NW is really unbelievable. Even better is the way these students conduct themselves - I must credit the band director for that. I believe all kids have it in them to do good and be good - they need adults in their life who put that expectation on them and consistently demand it. That's what Brian McMath does and it is amazing to see it in action.

Last year we had just one winterguard group and they did well. It made a huge difference in our marching show this fall because the colorguard students had learned so much more last winter. This year, we have TWO winterguards - one with "year round" guard students (12) who are at a higher skill level, and one (10) with students who are either completely new to colorguard or who (like my daughter) are woodwind/brasswind players in the band.

You're right Steve, the band tree is alive and well and growing! Thank you for helping with the "pruning" in years past :) We still have lots to do - instruments to finish paying for, need to continue pulling in more parental support, desperate need for a TRUCK! - but we're getting there. We will graduate out next year :( but have already decided that we'll be sticking around to help out and most of all, cheer on, the band! I know you drove the bus for us a couple of times last year - come see us/help out anytime :)

Thanks for letting me jump up on Cracker's soapbox again :D

Thanks fer the bigger quote, Kris!

In French we say, "Jacques LeDeere ne fait pas le équitation aspirateur d'intérieur"

(pssst. Pappy don't really speak French.)

Hey Steve! I see you quoted me over in the "need your comments" thread and you forgot to credit me and you added that one other little word in there.......:D

Kris: You wouldn't happen to be related to Jordan McNeill?  I know Jordan; she was in my English class sophomore year.

I was at the band competition yesterday and had a blast!  Mr. McMath recruited me to sing the National Anthem for the opening ceremonies...I've sung for the band a few times now.  ^_^

I have a lot of friends in the band and I fully support the Viking Band as a fellow member of the music department.  I really enjoyed the performances yesterday!
